JAGR PASSES HOWE FOR THIRD PLACE ON ALL-TIME POINTS LIST
Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr (743-1,108—1,851) collected one assist to move pastGordie Howe (801-1,049—1,850) and into sole possession of third place on the NHL’s all-time points list:

* Jagr achieved the feat in his 1,613th career game – 154 fewer than Howe played (1,767) – to also move past Ray Bourque (1,612) and into sole possession of ninth place on the NHL’s all-time games played list.

CAPITALS, FLYERS SNAP OPPONENTS’ FRANCHISE-RECORD STREAKS
The Capitals and Flyers snapped the franchise-record winning streaks of the Ducks and Lightning, respectively:

* Braden Holtby made 27 saves and turned aside two shootout attempts to backstop the Capitals to their fourth victory in their past five outings and halt the Ducks’ franchise-record winning streak at 11 games. Holtby picked up his League-leading 41st victory of the season (54 GP) to match a career high and club record also achieved in 2014-15 (73 GP). He also ranks in the top 10 in the NHL this season in goals-against average (7th; 2.21) and save percentage (9th; .923).

* Shayne Gostisbehere (2-0—2) registered his first career multi-goal performance (47 GP) to help the Flyers complete a 5-1-0 homestand and snap the Lightning’s franchise-record winning streak at nine games. Gostisbehere paces rookie defensemen in goals (14), assists (23) and points (37) this season; his 14 goals also are a single-season team record for a rookie defenseman, one more than Behn Wilson totaled in 1978-79 (13 G in 80 GP).

MILESTONE GOALS LIFT PACIFIC DIVISION CONTENDERS
The Kings and Sharks both posted victories to inch closer to the Ducks – who lost in a shootout – atop the Pacific Division:


* Down 1-0, the Kings scored five unanswered goals – highlighted by multi-point efforts from Anze Kopitar (1-2—3), Jeff Carter (2-0—2) and Drew Doughty (1-1—2) – to earn their sixth win in their past eight games. Carter registered his 300th NHL goal (and 104th w/ LAK), while Kopitar reached the 20-goal milestone for the eighth time in his 10 seasons.

* The Flames tied the game with 1:22 remaining in regulation, but Joe Pavelski scored at 0:19 of overtime to power the Sharks to their fourth victory in their last five outings. Pavelski, who picked up his first career overtime goal (708 GP), reached the 30-goal milestone for the fourth time in his career and third consecutive season.

AROUND THE RINKS
* Lee Stempniak posted 1-2—3, including the winning goal at 4:00 of overtime, to guide the Bruins to a 5-1-1 record in their past seven games. Stempniak notched his first goal in a Boston uniform (4 GP) and also picked up his fifth career overtime goal (and second of the season).

* Semyon Varlamov made 37 saves to lead the Avalanche to their second win in their last three outings. Per Elias, Varlamov improved to 9-4-1 when facing 35 or more shots on goal this season – tied for the third-most such victories in the NHL (w/ Tuukka Rask).

* Jack Eichel scored in regulation and Sam Reinhart (0-2—2) potted the decisive goal in the shootout to lift the Sabres to a 2-0-2 record in their past four games. At 19 years, 131 days, Eichel became the youngest player in franchise history to reach the 20-goal milestone.

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS
* Coyotes captain Shane Doan played in his 1,451st career game to tie Teemu Selannefor 23rd place in NHL history.

* Flyers defenseman Mark Streit (0-1—1) played in his 700th NHL game.

* Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis (1-0—1) recorded his 300th NHL point.

* Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman, a fifth-round selection (123rd overall) by the Panthers in the 2010 NHL Draft, scored his first career goal (5 GP).

* Head coach Claude Julien earned his 388th win with the Bruins to move past Art Ross(387) for the most victories in franchise history.

LOOSE PUCKS
Despite suffering the shootout loss, the Ducks extended their point streak to 14 games (12-0-2) – two shy of equaling the franchise record established Oct. 6 – Nov. 9, 2006 (12-0-4) . . . Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron (2-0—2) scored for the fourth straight game (5-1—6) . . . Sharks defenseman Brent Burns (1-1—2) also scored for the fourth consecutive game (4-4—8), a franchise record for a blueliner . . . Lightning forwardOndrej Palat scored for the third straight game (4-0—4) . . . Avalanche forward Matt Duchene (1-1—2) set a career high with his 28th goal of the season, tied for ninth place in the NHL . . . Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen (1-0—1) extended his point streak to eight games (1-8—9) . . . Sharks forward Joe Thornton (0-1—1) extended his assist/point streak to five games (1-6—7) . . . Forward Jiri Hudler (2-0—2) registered his first goals with the Panthers (3 GP) . . . Sharks goaltender Martin Jones made a career-high 47 saves . . . Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask also made 47 saves, two shy of his career high established March 30, 2014 at PHI (49 SV) . . . ICYMI: Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot, Jets forward Mark Scheifele and Sharks defenseman Brent Burns were namedthe NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending March 6 . . . The Kings honored former forward Jimmy Carson during a pregame ceremony at STAPLES Center.

KEY DIVISION BATTLES HIGHLIGHT TUESDAY’S GAMES
A pair of division battles highlight the tight playoff races in the Eastern Conference:

* The Atlantic Division-leading Lightning (39-23-4, 82 points) play host to the third-place Bruins (37-23-7, 81 points) at Amalie Arena. These teams, who are separated by one point, are contesting their fourth and final game of the season. Tampa Bay has won two of the first three, including a 4-1 victory in their most recent matchup on Feb. 28 at TD Garden (TBL: 2-1-0, BOS: 1-2-0).

* The Islanders (36-20-7, 79 points), who sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division, welcome the fourth-place Penguins (34-23-8, 76 points) to Barclays Center. These clubs, who are separated by three points, are playing their second of four matchups this season. Pittsburgh won the first, picking up a 5-2 victory on Jan. 2 at CONSOL Energy Center.
