FAMILIAR FINISHES FOR RED WINGS, SENATORS
The Red Wings and Senators both overcame multi-goal deficits in the third period to win in overtime. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, there have been 16 games this season in which a team rallied from a multi-goal third-period deficit to win.

* Gustav Nyquist (1-1—2) notched the primary assist on Justin Abdelkader’s tying goal at 17:37 of the third period and then scored in overtime to help the Red Wings overcome a 4-2 deficit and extend a pair of streaks. Detroit improved to 5-0-3 in their last eight contests at Joe Louis Arena and 7-0-3 in their last 10 games overall – their longest such run since March 11 – April 3, 2010 (10-0-2).

* Nyquist's fourth career overtime goal helped Detroit tie Calgary for the League lead in both wins after regulation (7) and wins in three-on-three overtime (6) this season.

* The Elias Sports Bureau notes Nyquist also scored in overtime on Oct. 24 at VAN when the Red Wings last overcame a multi-goal third-period deficit to win a game.

* Dylan Larkin (1-1—2, +2) ignited Detroit's rally with his 11th goal of the season to take sole possession of the rookie lead. He also paces the entire NHL with a +19 rating this season.

* Erik Karlsson (1-2—3) factored on all three unanswered goals for the Senators – including his second career overtime tally – to help his club overcome a 2-0 deficit and improve to 6-1-2 in its last nine contests at Canadian Tire Centre.

* Karlsson registered at least three points in a game for the fifth time this season (and for the second straight contest). Karlsson (6-26—32) increased his lead as the top point-producing defenseman and also pulled ahead of Patrick Kane (16-25—41) for the League lead in assists.

* Mike Hoffmantied the game with 36.2 seconds remaining in regulation to push his goal streak to four games – the longest active such run in the NHL – and point streak to seven contests (9-3—12). Hoffman, last season's goal-scoring leader among rookies (27) has tallied nine goals in his past seven contests.

DID YOU KNOW? Via Elias, Hoffman also was the catalyst the last time the Senators overcame a multi-goal third-period deficit to win, on April 7 vs. PIT. His goal tied the game at 18:12 of the third period.

He ranks second on the Predators – and among NHL defensemen – with nine goals this season.
