BRASSARD, TALBOT LEAD RANGERS PAST BLACKHAWKS
Derick Brassard broke a scoreless tie at 0:32 of overtime and Cam Talbot stopped all 29 shots he faced to lead the Rangers to their 10th victory in their past 13 games (10-1-2).

* At 40-17-7 (87 points), the Rangers moved within one point of the idle Islanders (42-21-4, 88 points) for first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Rangers hold three games in hand and own the ROW tiebreaker (NYR: 37, NYI: 35), but the Islanders lead the season series (NYI: 3-1-0, NYR: 1-3-0). The teams play their fifth and final game of the season on Tuesday at Nassau Coliseum.

* The Rangers reached the 40-win mark for the eighth time in the past 10 seasons.

* The Rangers posted their League-leading 10th shutout of the season, including five by Talbot and five by Henrik Lundqvist. It marks the first time in franchise history that two Rangers goaltenders have each recorded at least five shutouts in the same season.

* Talbot notched his eighth career shutout to improve to 5-1-1 in his past seven appearances (1.69 GAA, .943 SV%, 2 SO). He has earned at least one point in 12 of his last 13 contests (9-1-3) and is 14-6-4 overall.

* Brassard recorded his fourth career overtime goal and second of the season (also Nov. 5 vs. DET). He has 2-14—16 in his past 17 outings and ranks second on the team with 14-37—51 overall.

* Via Elias, Brassard became the fourth player in Rangers history to break a 0-0 deadlock with an overtime goal in the regular season. The others to do so: Brian Leetch (Nov. 7, 2002 vs. CGY), Brendan Shanahan (Dec. 9, 2007 vs. NJD) and Dan Girardi (April 13, 2013 at NYI).

* The Rangers have earned at least one point in 10 of their last 12 meetings with the Blackhawks dating to Nov. 16, 2003 (7-2-3). They shut out Chicago for the first time since Jan. 25, 1969 in New York (3-0 W, Ed Giacomin). They also shut out the Blackhawks for the first time in Chicago since Dec. 25, 1966 (1-0 W, Giacomin).

* The Rangers have picked up at least one point in eight consecutive games against Western Conference opponents (6-0-2), the first time they have achieved that feat since Nov. 26, 1996 – Jan. 21, 1997 (8-0-2).

SPECIAL TEAMS POWER BRUINS OVER RED WINGS . . .
The Bruins scored a pair of power-play goals (Loui Eriksson, David Pastrnak) and a pair of shorthanded goals (Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille) to defeat the Red Wings and extend their point streak to five contests (4-0-1).

* At 33-22-10 (76 points), the Bruins moved four points ahead of the idle Panthers (29-23-14, 72 points) for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. * Per Elias, the Bruins posted multiple power-play and shorthanded goals in the same game for the first time since Feb. 17, 2009, a 5-1 victory at CAR (2 PPGs, 2 SHGs). Two other teams have accomplished that feat this season: the Coyotes (Dec. 1 at EDM) and Stars (Jan. 29 at OTT).

* Paille (2-0—2) notched his seventh career multi-goal game and first since Dec. 14, 2011 at OTT (2-0—2). He also scored his 11th career shorthanded goal and eighth career game-winning goal (both firsts this season).

* Marchand found the back of the net for the fourth consecutive game (5-1—6), matching a career high established Jan. 14-20, 2014 (6-1—7). He has registered 15 career shorthanded goals, including two this season (also Feb. 16 at CGY).

. . . SENATORS, DEVILS KEEP PACE IN WILD CARD RACE
The Senators and Devils also won on Sunday to keep pace with the Bruins in the race for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference:

* The Flames erased a four-goal deficit in the final 13:04 of regulation, but Erik Karlsson scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout to help the Senators extend their point streak to nine games (8-0-1), their longest such run since Dec. 30, 2011 – Jan. 14, 2012 (8-0-1).

* Four different Senators players found the back of the net during regulation: Mark Borowiecki, Alex Chiasson, Mike Hoffman and Milan Michalek. Mika Zibanejad posted one assist to extend his point streak to a career-high seven games (3-4—7).

* Making his first start since Jan. 21, Craig Anderson recorded 42 saves – one shy of his season high achieved Oct. 26 at CHI (2-1 L) and Nov. 28 at FLA (3-2 L). He also denied 4-of-6 shootout attempts to improve to 14-11-7 overall.

* Five players registered multiple points to power the Devils past the Flyers and to their seventh victory in their past 10 games (7-2-1). New Jersey also improved to 13-4-4 in its last 21 outings at Prudential Center, including a 9-3-1 mark in its past 13 such games.

* Adam Henrique (2-0—2) notched his sixth career multi-goal game and first since March 8, 2014 vs. CAR (2-0—2). Steve Bernier (0-3—3) posted his first career three-assist game and matched a career high for points in one contest, last achieved Dec. 1, 2010 at ANA (2-1—3 w/ FLA).

AVALANCHE SOLVE WILD TO INCH CLOSER IN PLAYOFF CHASE
Gabriel Landeskog scored what proved to be the game-winning goal early in the third period to lead the Avalanche over the Wild for the first time this season (COL: 1-4-0, MIN: 4-1-0) and to their third consecutive victory overall.

* At 30-25-11 (71 points), the Avalanche moved within seven points of the idle Jets (33-21-12, 78 points) for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. The teams play each other one more time this season, on April 9 at Pepsi Center (COL: 1-2-1, WPG: 3-0-1).

* Landeskog (1-1—2) found the back of the net for the third straight game (3-3—6), the second time he has achieved that feat this season (also Feb. 12-20: 5-1—6 in 5 GP). Landeskog, who totaled only 10 goals through his first 54 games of 2014-15, has scored nine times in his past 12 outings – Elias says that ranks second in the NHL since Feb. 12, behind only Alex Ovechkin (11).

* Zach Redmond (1-1—2) and Jarome Iginla (0-2—2) also registered multi-point games. Redmond posted his fourth career multi-point performance and third of the season. Iginla collected multiple assists for the sixth time in 2014-15; he shares the team lead with 21-25—46 (w/ Landeskog: 19-27—46).

* Semyon Varlamov (29 SV) extended his shutout streak to 124:19 before allowing a third-period goal to Chris Stewart. Per Elias, Varlamov’s shutout streak fell 5:04 shy of his career high, established March 1-6, 2012 (129:23).

* Varlamov has allowed one or fewer goals in each of his past three appearances, all wins. The last time he achieved that feat was from Oct. 2-12, 2013, when he posted a career-high four consecutive games with one or fewer goals against (4-0-0).

* Per Elias, Lindholm also became the second-youngest player in franchise history to register five points in one contest. Francis achieved that feat at 19 years, 229 days, posting five assists for the Whalers on Oct. 16, 1982 vs. VAN.

* Eric Staal matched a career high with four assists, last achieved Nov. 9, 2010 – also vs. EDM (0-4—4).
