DUCKS RALLY (THREE TIMES) TO WIN FREEWAY FACE-OFF
The Ducks overcame three separate two-goal deficits – including a 5-3 hole with less than six minutes remaining in regulation – to defeat the Kings in this season’s first edition of the Freeway Face-Off.

* Via Elias, this marks the first time in franchise history that the Ducks have overcome a multi-goal deficit in the final six minutes of regulation to pick up a regular-season win.

* You only have to go back 24 games, though, to find the last time the Ducks recorded such a victory. In Game 6 of the First Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the team rallied from a 4-2 hole with less than three minutes remaining in regulation to eliminate the Stars from the postseason (5-4 OT).

* Ryan Kesler posted 2-1—3, plus the game-deciding goal in the shootout, to power the Ducks to their fifth consecutive regular-season win over the Kings dating to Jan. 23.

* Kesler recorded his 25th career multi-goal game (last: Dec. 3, 2013 at NSH: 2-0—2) and tied a career high with his 19th three-point performance (last: Oct. 9 at PIT: 1-2—3).

* Kesler now has 2-4—6 during a four-game assist/point streak. He also improved to 12-for-49 (24.5%), with five game-deciding goals, in his shootout career

* Ryan Getzlaf scored the tying goal with 1:39 left in regulation, marking the fifth game-tying marker in the final two minutes of regulation this season.

* Jakob Silfverberg registered 1-1—2 and also found the back of the net in the shootout. He ranks second among active skaters in shootout efficiency (minimum, 10 attempts) with a 57.1% career conversion rate (8-for-14).

* The Ducks extended their overall point streak to six games (3-0-3). They have contested four consecutive overtime/shootout games for the first time since April 2-8, 2010 (1-0-3).

* These clubs meet again Saturday at STAPLES Center. They face off five total times in 2014-15 – also Jan. 17 at LAK, Feb. 27 at ANA and March 18 at ANA.

TOP LINE POWERS MAPLE LEAFS PAST BRUINS
The line of Tyler Bozak (1-2—3), James van Riemsdyk (1-2—3) and Phil Kessel (2-0—2) combined for 4-4—8 to lead the Maple Leafs to their third consecutive victory and sixth win in their past eight outings (6-1-1).

* Kessel, the fifth overall selection by the Bruins in the 2006 NHL Draft, scored the opening two goals to give the Maple Leafs a lead they would not relinquish. He had just three goals in 27 career regular-season appearances against his former club prior to Wednesday (3-11—14).

* van Riemsdyk matched a career high for points in one game, accomplished eight times previously (last: Feb. 27 at NYI: 0-3—3). He also stretched his point streak to a career-long six games (3-5—8).

* Bozak also tied a career high with his 11th three-point performance and first since March 10 at ANA (1-2—3).

* Cody Franson collected two assists to extend his point streak to a career-long five games (1-6—7).

* Peter Holland (1-1—2) found the back of the net for the third consecutive game and also registered his second straight multi-point performance (1-1—2 Sunday at OTT). He had two career multi-point games in 82 contests prior to Sunday.

* The Maple Leafs now have won three of their last four meetings with the Bruins following a 1-10-1 stretch in their prior 12 regular-season matchups dating to Oct. 20, 2011.

BRUINS LOOK TO REBOUND AGAINST CANADIENS
After a 6-1 loss Wednesday in Toronto, the Bruins face their second straight Original Six opponent when they visit the Canadiens at Bell Centre. This marks the second meeting between these clubs in 2014-15; Montreal scored a 6-4 victory Oct. 16 at Bell Centre on the strength of three points from both Brendan Gallagher (2-1—3) and Max Pacioretty (1-2—3). The Canadiens also have won seven of the last eight regular-season matchups between these clubs dating to March 3, 2013, and eliminated the Bruins in seven games in the Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Overall, Montreal has won three straight (its third such streak of the season), while Boston is looking for its sixth victory in its past seven outings.

LIGHTNING DEBUT THIRD JERSEYS IN RETURN HOME
The Lightning will debut their black third jerseys when they play host to the Sharks at Amalie Arena. Tampa Bay has points in seven straight (6-0-1), including a 2-0-1 record on its recently-completed road trip. San Jose, meanwhile, has lost three of its past four overall, but is 8-1-1 in its last 10 games against Tampa Bay dating to Jan. 16, 2006.

The Lightning’s third jersey features the popular BOLTS logo from previous seasons across the front (with white trim) and has blue and gray as secondary colors. The club will also wear a black version of their signature lightning bolt pants and black gloves as part of their new third jersey system.
