from Katie Strang of ESPN,
Split up for a spell when things were looking dire in Toronto, the Maple Leafs' top line of Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk seems to be on the uptick again. The trio combined for eight points in Wednesday night's 6-1 win against the Boston Bruins.
The game was one of redemption for the Leafs following their dispiriting 4-1 defeat to the Bruins back on Oct. 25, and it's got to be a good sign for Randy Carlyle that his team is showing signs of life by wanting to atone for that embarrassing loss.
The Leafs have now also rattled off three straight wins, scoring 16 goals during that span. Things are looking up in Toronto and I'd expect us to see that top line remain intact for the foreseeable future.
Pierre LeBrun on the same topic...
Katie, that loss to Boston in late October was deemed as embarrassing by the Toronto players and coaching staff. Well, the Leafs have gone 6-1-1 since, so perhaps they should thank the Bruins for that wakeup call.
Toronto is rolling four lines -- something it didn't do last season -- and getting impactful shifts from all four units right now.
