* With his two-point performance, Crosby (11-17—28 in 22 GP) moved ahead of Blues forward Alexander Steen (17-9—26 in 20 GP) for the League lead in scoring. Ovechkin (17-7—24 in 20 GP) is tied for fifth.

* Crosby leads all players with 84 points (26-58—84) and a 1.45 points-per-game average since the start of the 2012-13 season, while Ovechkin paces all skaters with 49 goals.

* The Penguins and Capitals met as division rivals for the first time since March 28, 1993, when they squared off as members of the Patrick Division.

JAGR, FRIENDLY BOUNCE SPUR DEVILS
Jaromir Jagr scored the tying goal with 1:01 remaining in regulation and Ben Lovejoy’s crease-clearing attempt in overtime deflected off teammate Corey Perry and into the Anaheim net to give the Devils their fourth win in their past five games. Martin Brodeur made 22 saves for his fifth consecutive victory; he is 7-1-0 in his past eight starts after going 0-2-2 in his first four games of the season.

* The game featured the first head-to-head matchup this season between Jagr, 41, and Ducks forward Teemu Selanne, 43. The two have combined for 11-13—24 this season and 1,367-1,775—3,142 in 2,818 career regular-season games.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was the first game featuring two opposing players with 675 or more career goals since Oct. 25, 2003, when Mark Messier (678 goals) and the Rangers defeated Brett Hull (717) and the Red Wings by a 3-1 margin. Messier scored an empty-net goal, the 679th of his career, to seal that game.

* Elias also says that Jagr and Selanne’s combined total of 1,366 NHL goals entering Wednesday was the most by two opposing players since Oct. 6, 2005, when Brett Hull (741 goals) and the Coyotes squared off against Luc Robitaille (654) and the Kings. Robitaille potted his 655th career goal to lead Los Angeles to a 3-2 victory in that contest.

* Jagr (689) and Selanne (678) rank 10th and 11th, respectively, on the NHL’s all-time goals list. Jagr now sits one goal behind Mario Lemieux (690) for ninth place.

KOIVU PLAYS THE HERO (AGAIN)
Mikko Koivu (1-2—3) scored the winning goal with 2:57 remaining in regulation and Josh Harding made a season-high 34 saves to lead the Wild to their fifth win in their past six games.

* Koivu also scored the tiebreaking goal in the team’s 2-1 victory over the Jets on Sunday, finding the back of the net with 3:12 left in the third period. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Blues forward Alexander Steen (19:38 of third period, Oct. 9 vs. CHI and 19:00 of third period, Oct. 29 vs. WPG) is the only other player who has scored two go-ahead goals in the final five minutes of regulation in games this season.

* Harding improved to 13-3-2 in 19 appearances this season, tying Tampa Bay’s Ben Bishop, Chicago’s Corey Crawford and Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury for the League lead in wins. Harding also equaled his career high in victories, set during the 2011-12 season (13-12-4 in 34 GP).

* At 14-5-4 (32 points), the Wild are off to their best 23-game start in franchise history, surpassing the previous mark set in 2002-03 (13-6-4-0, 30 points).

LOOSE PUCKS
Nikita Nikitin scored his first career overtime goal to help the Blue Jackets improve to 3-1-3 in their past seven games . . . Wild forward Jason Pominville potted his 13th goal of the season to move into sole possession of fourth place in the NHL . . . Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf scored his 12th goal of the season to extend his point streak to five games (6-3—9) . . . Devils forward Patrik Elias (0-3—3) posted his first three-point game since Feb. 15 . . . Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin collected two helpers and now has at least one assist in eight of his last nine games (0-12—12) . . . The Blue Jackets improved to 31-0-0 when leading after two periods under head coach Todd Richards (since Jan. 9, 2012) . . .
