DUCKS HOLD OFF KINGS IN 11-GOAL AFFAIR
Adrian Kempe (3-0—3) completed his second-career hat trick to help Los Angeles tie the game for the third time, but Adam Henrique (1-1—2) scored three minutes into overtime to help the Ducks improve to 2-0-0 in the ‘Freeway Face-Off’ this season.

* Rickard Rakell (2-1—3) and Max Comtois (0-3—3) also collected three points in the 11-goal affair. Monday’s contest marked the fourth instalment of the ‘Freeway Face-Off' to feature at least one player on the Ducks and Kings each record three-plus points and first since Jarett Stoll (LAK) and Ryan Getzlaf (ANA) each collected 1-2—3 on Feb. 18, 2009. The others: Feb. 18, 2007 and Jan. 22, 2003.

* Rakell’s second three-point performance in as many games extended his point streak to six contests, tying the longest such run of his career (2017-18: 2x and 2016-17) and one shy of the League’s longest active stretch. Competing in his ninth season, Rakell became the fourth Ducks player in 10 years to post consecutive games with three or more points. The others: Tory Terry (2 GP from March 6-8, 2019), Ondrej Kase (2 GP from Dec. 9-12, 2018) and Saku Koivu (2 GP from Jan. 8-10, 2012).

ROOKIE KAHKONEN BLANKS GOLDEN KNIGHTS FOR FIRST CAREER SHUTOUT
Kevin Fiala (1-0—1) and Jonas Brodin (1-0—1) each scored while rookie Kaapo Kahkonen turned aside all 26 shots he faced to blank the Honda West Division-leading Golden Knights. Kahkonen (7-0-0 since Feb. 18), who already owns the longest win streak by a rookie goaltender in Wild history, extended his run to seven games – the longest by any netminder this season.

* Kahkonen, who allowed two or fewer goals for the sixth time in seven outings, became just the fourth rookie goaltender in Wild history to record a regular-season shutout, joining Josh Harding (April 11, 2006, March 1, 2007 & Oct. 14, 2007), Darcy Kuemper (Jan. 12, 2014 & Feb. 27, 2014) and Anton Khudobin (Jan. 16, 2011).

MCDAVID ACCOMPLISHES RARE FEAT WITH 30TH ASSIST OF 2020-21
Connor McDavid (0-2—2) collected his 29th and 30th assists of the season, while Leon Draisaitl (1-0—1) scored the game winner as Edmonton improved to 5-0-0 against Ottawa dating to Jan. 31 (OTT: 0-5-0). McDavid (27 GP) required the fewest games of his career to collect 30 assists in a single season, besting the mark he set in 2019-20 (28 GP).

* Only one active player has achieved the feat on more occasions than McDavid: Sidney Crosby (3x: 26 GP in 2012-13, 27 GP in 2006-07 & 29 GP in 2008-09).

SHARKS EDGE BLUES IN ANOTHER ONE-GOAL GAME BETWEEN CLUBS
David Perron (0-1—1) extended the League’s longest active point streak to seven games in regulation, but Evander Kane netted his fourth career regular-season overtime winner to lift San Jose over St. Louis. The Sharks and Blues were one of five contests on Monday that resulted in a one-goal affair.

* San Jose and St. Louis are no strangers to tightly-contested games in 2020-21, with each of their six meetings decided by a one-goal margin (SJS: 3-2-1; STL 3-1-2). Only one other head-to-head showdown in 2020-21 has featured at least five one-goal games. Coincidentally, it also features the Blues (5 GP: STL vs. ARI).

* St. Louis salvaged a point and completed its six-game road trip with a 4-0-2 record. It marked the first time the franchise has collected at least one point in every game of a road trip that lasted six or more games.

ISLANDERS TAKE 12-GAME HOME POINT STREAK INTO TROTZ’S 1,700TH GAME

The Islanders will put their 12-game home point streak on the line tonight in what will be the 1,700th regular-season game behind an NHL bench for head coach Barry Trotz. Serving his 22nd season as an NHL head coach, Trotz is set to join Scotty Bowman and JoelQuenneville as the third in League history to reach the milestone.

* Trotz, who has faced the Bruins in 40 of his 1,699 career games to date (23-12-5; .638 P%), has led the Islanders to at least five consecutive victories for the sixth time since taking over ahead of the 2018-19 season. New York has posted a winning streak of six or more games twice in that span: a 10-0-0 run from Oct. 12 – Nov. 5, 2019 that stands as the longest winning streak of Trotz’s NHL career and a 6-0-0 stretch from Dec. 23, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019.

* This is the seventh time that a Trotz-led team has recorded a home point streak of a dozen or more games. His personal best was a 17-game stretch with the Capitals in 2016-17.

KANE ALSO SET TO APPEAR IN MILESTONE CONTEST
After netting his 400th career goal on Feb. 28 versus the Red Wings, Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is set to reach another milestone on Tuesday when he skates in his 1,000th career regular-season game.

* The first-overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft will become the seventh player in Blackhawks history to skate in 1,000 regular-season games with the franchise. His teammate, Duncan Keith (1,164 GP), ranks second on the franchise’s all-time games played list.

* Kane, who sits second in scoring this season (11-27—38), has collected 400-660—1,060 through 999 GP. Among active players to appear in 1,000 regular-season games, only three have recorded at least 1,000 points through that span: Sidney Crosby (468-810—1,278), Alex Ovechkin (603-515—1,118) and Joe Thornton (307-697—1,004), who each sit within the top 40 of the League’s all-time points list.
