DADONOV LEADS SENATORS TO FRANCHISE-FIRST FOUR-GOAL COMEBACK WIN
On the heels of Brady Tkachuk tallying the winner with nine seconds remaining in regulation Saturday, Evgenii Dadonov scored Ottawa’s fourth of five unanswered goals to tie the game with 2:01 remaining in regulation after the Senators faced a 5-1 deficit. Dadonov then recorded the overtime winner as the Senators won a game in which they trailed by four or more goals for the first time in franchise history.

* Ottawa had trailed by at least four goals in 240 regular-season games prior to Monday, posting a 0-237-3 record in those contests. The Senators now hold a 1-237-3 record when faced with that scenario.

* Ottawa became the first team this season to win a game after facing a four-goal deficit. There were five such instances in 2019-20, tied for the highest single-season total in NHL history (also 1983-84 & 1985-86).

COMEBACKS ABOUND AS GOAL COUNT CLIMBS IN SCOTIA NORTH DIVISION

After the Senators staged the largest comeback win of the season in Toronto, two other all-Canadian matchups saw multi-goal rallies – Winnipeg managed to keep Edmonton’s three-goal comeback attempt at bay, while Calgary turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-3 overtime victory (despite surrendering a tying goal in the final minute of regulation).

* Mark Scheifele (1-2—3) helped the Jets pull ahead by as much as three goals and factored on the eventual winning tally in the third period to help Winnipeg fend off Connor McDavid (0-2—2) and the Oilers. McDavid’s 145th career multi-point game moved him within one of 500 career points and allowed the Oilers to overcome a three-goal deficit to tie the game at 5-5 before Blake Wheeler scored the decisive tally.

* Johnny Gaudreau scored his eighth career overtime goal as the Flames staged their second multi-goal comeback win of the season (also Feb. 1 at WPG), bringing the total to 24 such contests in the NHL in 2020-21 (221 GP). Gaudreau's goal came after Brock Boeser salvaged a point for Vancouver by scoring the League's 11th tying goal in the final minute of regulation this season.

* The three Scotia North Division games contested Monday increased the goals-per-game rate to 6.4 for the highest-scoring division in the NHL and boosted its comeback-wins count to 23 on the season – including more than half of the games contested since Feb. 8 (8 of 14 GP).

* All three Canadian matchups from Monday are to be part of Wednesday’s slate, including two of three scheduled to take the national stage. The Jets and Oilers clash for their rematch in front of a national audience in the U.S. (10 p.m. ET on NBCSN), while the Senators and Maple Leafs meet in a Canadian telecast (7 p.m. ET on SN).

HURRICANES, PANTHERS ALSO PREVAIL IN HIGH-SCORING WINS
Carolina (10-3-0, 20 points) and Florida (9-2-2, 20 points) each claimed wins in 10-goal thrillers to move within one point of Tampa Bay (10-3-1, 21 points) for first place in the Discover Central Division.

* Monday marked just the second day over the last 26 years (since 1994-95) to feature four NHL games each with at least 10 combined goals (including shootout-deciding goals), following Oct. 13, 2007 when five of 13 games hit double digits.

* Brock McGinn (2-2—4) and Teuvo Teravainen (1-3—4) both matched their single-game career highs for points as the Hurricanes scored seven goals – including six in unanswered fashion – to rally past the Blue Jackets and improve to 4-0-0 at PNC Arena in 2020-21. Carolina and Columbus have combined for 26 goals through three of eight head-to-head games scheduled for the 2020-21 regular season (8.7 G/GP).



* The Panthers accounted for six of the game’s 10 combined goals to hand the Lightning their first home loss of 2020-21. It marked the 11th time that the intrastate rivals combined for 10-plus goals in a game (including shootout-deciding goals), with Florida improving to 6-4-1 in those contests (TBL: 5-5-1).

* Seven of the game’s 10 goals were recorded in the middle frame, sparked by Owen Tippett scoring the second goal of his NHL career a total of three years and 112 days after his first on Oct. 26, 2017 (2-2—4 in 18 GP). Tippett made his return to the League in 2020-21 after being named to the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic last year as a member of the Springfield Thunderbirds.



COYOTES BLANK BLUES TO CAP SEVEN STRAIGHT GAMES AGAINST ST. LOUIS
Darcy Kuemper turned aside all 24 shots he faced and Clayton Keller scored the only goal of the contest as the Coyotes concluded their unprecedented seven straight head-to-head games against the Blues with a 4-2-1 record (STL: 3-3-1).

* The teams have played only each other since Feb. 2 due to a number of League schedule changes, marking the first time in NHL history that two teams have played more than four consecutive games against one another during a single regular season. The Coyotes also were involved in the only other instance in League history of two opponents playing at least four straight regular-season games against each other (also 4 GP vs. VGK from Jan. 18-24).

COLORADO, VEGAS TO MEET AHEAD OF OUTDOOR GAME AT LAKE TAHOE

A six-game Tuesday is set to feature the final meeting between Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche and Max Pacioretty and the Golden Knights before the two teams square off on the 18th fairway of a golf course in Lake Tahoe for the first of two outdoor games scheduled for this weekend. Vegas is set to make its outdoor debut in Bridgestone NHL Outdoors Saturday, while Colorado will contest its third such game (3 p.m. ET on NBC, SN, SN1, TVAS).

* Vegas won the first of four consecutive matchups against Colorado on Sunday, snapping the Avalanche’s regular-season win streak against the Golden Knights at four contests (4-0-0 from Feb. 18 – Dec. 23, 2019).

* Vegas will look to improve to 9-1-1 at T-Mobile Arena in 2020-21 before playing its final four contests of the month on the road. One of those games, however, will be played in Nevada as it is set to become the 13th different state (plus the District of Columbia) to host an NHL regular-season outdoor game.
