LIGHTNING SET FRANCHISE RECORD WITH 10TH CONSECUTIVE WIN...

Victor Hedman scored in overtime and Nikita Kucherov (0-3—3) added three assists as the League-leading Lightning held off a multi-goal comeback from the Rangers to extend their win streak to a franchise-record 10 games and stretch their point streak to 14 contests (12-0-2).

* Kucherov posted three or more points in a game for the 16th time this season, five more than the next closest player (Patrick Kane: 11). This marks the most such outings in a season by a player at the conclusion of the month of February since 1995-96, when Mario Lemieux recorded 25.

* The League’s points leader improved his season totals to 30-74—104, continuing his climb towards the franchise record for most points in a single season.

...SETTING UP A RARE MATCHUP WITH THE BRUINS ON THURSDAY

The Lightning and Bruins (37-17-9, 83 points), who occupy first and second place in the Atlantic Division standings, respectively, will put their extensive point streaks on the line Thursday when they clash at TD Garden. Tampa Bay owns a record of 12-0-2 since Feb. 1, while Boston is 10-0-4 dating to Jan. 29.

* Thursday marks the first game in NHL history in which two teams will face off while each owning simultaneous point streaks of 14 or more contests. Only four other games in NHL history have featured two teams each with simultaneous point streaks of 10 or more contests, with the most recent one occurring on Dec. 31, 2016 when the Blue Jackets (15-0-1 dating to Nov. 25, 2016) defeated the Wild (12-0-1 dating to Dec. 2, 2016).

* With a win tonight, the Lightning can establish an NHL record for fewest games required to reach the 50-win mark in a season. They would eclipse the previous low of 66 contests set by the Red Wings in 1995-96, who went on to set the single-season NHL record for wins (62-13-7, 131 points).

* The Bruins, meanwhile, look to conclude a calendar month without a regulation loss (min. 8 GP) for the ninth time in franchise history and just the third time in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44); the other two instances were January 1969 (10-0-4) and November 2011 (12-0-1).

KANE REACHES 40 GOALS WITH LAST MINUTE GAME WINNER

Patrick Kane (40-54—94) scored the game-winning goal with 17 seconds remaining in regulation to join Alex Ovechkin (44-30—74) as the second player to 40 goals in 2018-19. The last season to see two 40-goal scorers prior to the end of February was 2009-10 (Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin).

* Kane, who also reached the 40-goal mark in 2015-16 when he had 46 en route to capturing the Art Ross Trophy (46-60—106 in 82 GP), became the seventh player in Blackhawks history to record multiple 40-goal seasons with the franchise.

* Additionally, Kane (born Nov. 19, 1988) became the third player in franchise history to record a 40-goal season at age 30 or older, joining Bobby Hull (1968-69, 1970-71 and 1971-72) and Jim Pappin (1972-73).

* Kane extended his road point streak to 19 games (14-21—35), becoming the sixth different player to record one point in 19 or more consecutive road games and first since 1989-90, when two skaters accomplished the feat: Pat LaFontaine from Nov. 18, 1989 – Feb. 22, 1990 (18-25—43 in 22 GP) and Mario Lemieux from Nov. 4, 1989 – Feb. 11, 1990 (19-25—44 in 21 GP).

GIORDANO HITS 60 POINTS AS FLAMES WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT

Captain Mark Giordano scored the game-winning goal to lift the Flames (41-16-7, 89 points) to a season-high seven game winning streak and extend their lead in the Western Conference standings to seven points over the idle Sharks (37-19-8, 82 points). The Flames are attempting to capture Conference and Division titles for the first time since 1989-90.

* Giordano boosted his season totals to 14-46—60 to reach the 60-point mark for the first time in his career. The veteran became the sixth defenseman in Flames franchise history to record as many points in a season, and first since Dion Phaneuf in 2007-08 (17-43—60 in 82 GP).

* Giordano (35 years, 147 days) became only the fourth blueliner in NHL history to reach the 60-point mark in a season at age 35 or older. The others: Nicklas Lidstrom (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2010-11), Al MacInnis (1998-99 and 2002-03) and Sergei Zubov (2005-06).

^Ages based on first day of respective regular season

* With the addition of Giordano, the Flames now have five different players with at least 60 points in 2018-19. The last time Calgary had five players with 60+ points before the end of February was 1990-91 (MacInnis, Theo Fleury, Joe Nieuwendyk, Doug Gilmour and Sergei Makarov).

* The last instance of any team having five or more players with 60+ points prior to the end of February was the Penguins in 1995-96 (Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Ron Francis, Tomas Sandstorm and Petr Nedved).

MAPLE LEAFS SCORE SIX IN ANDERSEN’S 30TH WIN

Five different Maple Leafs found the back of the net, led by two goals from Andreas Johnsson, and Frederik Andersen made 34 saves to become the second netminder to reach the 30-win mark this season - one day after Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was the first to hit the benchmark on Tuesday.

* Andersen recorded his third consecutive 30-win season since joining the Maple Leafs to become the third netminder in franchise history to post as many victories in three straight campaigns. The only others to achieve the feat: Johnny Bower (1959-1962) and Curtis Joseph (1998-2001). No goaltender in Maple Leafs history has posted four consecutive 30-win campaigns.

* Toronto scored six or more goals in a game for the 11th time in 2018-19 to mark the 163rd instance this season of a team scoring six or more goals in a game, the most such occurrences through games played on February 27th since 1995-96 (185).

AVALANCHE CONTINUE PUSH IN CROWDED WILD CARD RACE

Carl Soderberg scored the deciding goal in the sixth round of the shootout to vault the Avalanche (28-24-12, 68 points) into the Second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference - where four teams outside the postseason picture currently sit within five points of the final playoff spot.

SNEAK PEEK AT THURSDAY’S ACTION

TAVARES RETURNS TO LONG ISLAND AS VISITOR FOR FIRST TIME

John Tavares is set to face his former team at Nassau Coliseum for the first time when the Maple Leafs (39-20-4, 82 points) visit the Islanders (36-19-7, 79 points). Tavares played his first nine seasons with New York from 2009-10 to 2017-18 after being selected with the first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft.

* Tavares collected 272-349—621 in 669 career regular-season games with the Islanders and ranks among the top 10 on the franchise’s all-time lists for points (5th), assists (5th), goals (7th) and games played (10th). He also holds the all-time franchise record for overtime goals (11).

* The former Islanders captain is one of 14 players to record 200+ points at Nassau Coliseum (89-114—203 in 215 GP). The list is topped by Bryan Trottier (287-472—759 in 566 GP) and includes no other skater who played past the 1999-2000 season.

* The Islanders, who sat outside the playoff picture in six of nine seasons during Tavares’ tenure, sit atop the Metropolitan Division in their first season without the former captain and have not relinquished the position since Jan. 18. New York, which are 22-7-3 (47 points) since Dec. 15, 2018, can capture a division title for the seventh time in franchise history and first since 1987-88, when it concluded the season with a 39-31-10 (88 points) record to finish first place in the Patrick Division standings.

* In his most memorable postseason moment as an Islander, Tavares tied Game 6 of the 2016 First Round with 53.2 seconds remaining in regulation and scored at 10:41 of the second overtime to power New York to its first series win since the 1993 Division Final. He became the seventh player in franchise history to score a series-clinching goal in extra time and second in a game which required multiple overtimes, joining Pat LaFontaine’s “Easter Epic” winner in Game 7 of the 1987 Division Semifinals (3-2 4OT W).
