MAPLE LEAFS EARN 10TH ROAD WIN, MATTHEWS CONTINUES GOAL-A-GAME PACE

Auston Matthews scored his 13th goal of the season and Mitchell Marner collected two assists as the Maple Leafs earned their League-leading 10th road win of 2018-19 (10-3-0, 20 points). Toronto established a franchise record for fewest games to record its first 10 road wins in a season (13 GP).

* Matthews, who has played in 13 games in 2018-19, became the fifth Maple Leafs player in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44) to score 13 or more goals through his first 13 appearances in a season. He also became the sixth different NHL player in the last 30 years to average at least one goal per game in a season through games played Dec. 1 (min. 10 GP) and first since Mario Lemieux in 1995-96 (22-31—53 in 19 GP).

* Marner collected multiple assists for the fourth consecutive game (0-10—10) and boosted his totals to 6-32—38 overall this season. His 32 assists are tied for the most in the NHL this season (w/ Mikko Rantanen), while his 38 points rank third among all players.

* Frederik Andersen made 38 saves to improve to 15-7-0 in 22 appearances in 2018-19 (2.30 GAA, .931 SV%, 1 SO). Only one goaltender in franchise history has recorded more wins through his first 22 appearances in a season: George Hainsworth in 1934-35 (16-5-1).

CONFERENCE-LEADING TEAMS SECURE WINS

The Eastern Conference-leading Lightning (19-7-1, 39 points) and Western Conference-leading Predators (18-8-1, 37 points) each scored five goals to secure wins on Saturday:

* The Lightning overcame a 4-1 deficit and Brayden Point scored at 3:12 of overtime to power the Lightning past the Panthers. Point, who ranks tied for third in the NHL with 19 goals this season (19-15—34 in 27 GP), leads all players with 15 game winners since the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign.

* The Predators scored four goals in the first period – including three in the opening 4:11 – en route to victory over the Blackhawks. Their franchise record for most goals in the first period of a regular-season game is five, a mark set on Feb. 28, 2009 (8-0 W vs. DET).

WEBER SCORES FIRST TWO GOALS OF THE SEASON

Shea Weber (2-0—2), who made his season debut on Thursday, scored his first goals since Dec. 5, 2017 to help the Canadiens defeat the Rangers.

* Weber scored the 190th and 191st goals of his NHL career to move within five of tying Scott Stevens (196) for 23rd place on the League’s all-time list among defensemen. He trails only Zdeno Chara (198) for the most goals among active blueliners.

* Weber recorded the 18th multi-goal game of his NHL career to move into a tie with Mike Green for the most among active defensemen. The NHL record for most career multi-goal games by a defenseman is 55, a mark set by Hockey Hall of Fame member and four-time Stanley Cup championPaul Coffey.

* Weber became the first Canadiens blueliner to score multiple goals in a regular-season game against the Rangers since Mathieu Schneider onNov. 23, 1993 (2-0—2).

CHABOT ECLIPSES 30-POINT MARK IN SENATORS WIN

In Erik Karlsson’s return to Ottawa, Thomas Chabot collected two assists to eclipse the 30-point mark (7-24—31 in 27 GP) to help the Senatorsdefeat the Sharks. Chabot became the first defenseman in the NHL to record 30 points this season.

* Chabot required the third-fewest games among Senators defensemen to reach the 30-point mark in a season. He became the 16th differentdefenseman in NHL history to record 30 or more points in a season through games played Dec. 1 and first since Bryan McCabe in 2005-06 (10-25—35 w/ TOR).

* Chabot can become the second defenseman in Senators franchise history to conclude a season leading all NHL blueliners outright in points; Karlsson did it four times (2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16). Two defensemen accomplished the feat with the original Ottawa Senatorsfranchise: George Boucher (1922-23, 1923-24) and King Clancy (1929-30).

DID YOU KNOW?

Senators forward Mikkel Boedker (1-3—4) collected four points in his first game against the Sharks since being traded from San Jose to Ottawa on June 19. Boedker became the second former Sharks player to record four points in a regular-season game versus San Jose; he joined Sandis Ozolinsh, who did so on March 28, 1996 (0-4—4) in his fifth game against the Sharks since being traded from San Jose to Colorado on Oct. 26, 1995.

SURGING PLAYERS CONTINUE TO ROLL
* Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson (0-1—1) extended his point streak to a career-high 10 games (10-6—16). Atkinson, who owns the longest active point streak in the NHL, eclipsed his previous mark of nine games set from Dec. 5-23, 2016 (7-7—14 in 9 GP) and equaled from March 19 – April 5, 2018 (8-5—13 in 9 GP).

* Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau (1-1—2) collected multiple points for the fifth consecutive game (2-9—11). Only one player in franchise history has recorded a longer streak of consecutive multi-point outings: Pavel Bure from March 11-23, 2001 (13-4—17 in 7 GP).

* Adin Hill made 25 saves and the Coyotes scored six goals en route to their third consecutive win. Hill, who allowed his first goal of the season at 1:26 of the second period, improved to 3-0-0 in four appearances in 2018-19 (0.39 GAA, .984 SV%, 1 SO).

* Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen made 31 saves to improve to 8-2-1 this season (2.15 GAA, .928 SV%, 2 SO) and 10-3-1 in his NHL career (2.65 GAA, .914 SV%, 2 SO). Koskinen (30 years, 137days) became the oldest goaltender at the time of his 10th career regular-season win since Viktor Fasth (30 years, 212 days) on March 8, 2013 (w/ ANA).
