BOESER NAMED MVP AS PACIFIC DIVISION CLAIM 2018 NHL ALL-STAR TITLE

After winning the Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting challenge on Saturday, 20-year-old rookie Brock Boeser collected 1-1—2 in the final to lead the Pacific Division to victory in the 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Game at AMALIE Arena. Boeser, who also scored in the team’s opening contest, was presented with a 2018 Honda Clarity after being voted by fans as MVP of the three-on-three tournament.

* Boeser, who leads all rookies and shares seventh in the NHL with 24 goals this season, became the second rookie in NHL history to receive MVP honors at the All-Star Game. In 1985, Mario Lemieux received his first of three MVP awards after collecting 2-1—3 for the Wales Conference.

* By virtue of its championship, the Pacific Division claimed the winner-take-all $1-million prize – marking their second title in three years since the three-on-three tournament was introduced in 2016.

* Brent Burns, DrewDoughty and Johnny Gaudreau also won the All-Star Game with the Pacific Division in 2016 in Nashville, joining Taylor Hall (2016 and 2017) as the only players to win multiple times under the three-on-three format.

KUCHEROV NETS HAT TRICK IN FRONT OF HOMETOWN FANS

Nikita Kucherov scored a hat trick in front of the hometown crowd – the first under the three-on-three format – to power the Atlantic Division into the final. The Lightning trio of Kucherov (3-0—3), Brayden Point (1-1—2) and Steven Stamkos (0-2—2) combined for seven points (4-3—7) in the game, with Point adding an assist in the final.

QUICK HITS: NHL ALL-STAR GAME

* Pacific Division teammates Johnny Gaudreau (1-2—3), Drew Doughty (2-1—3) and Brent Burns (1-2—3) each collected three points over their two games on Sunday. Overall, Gaudreau (4-6—10 in 6 GP) leads all players with 10 points under the three-on-three format, while Doughty (4-5—9 in 6 GP) and Burns (2-7—9 in 6 GP) share second place.

* All nine skaters on the Atlantic Division roster found the score sheet in the first semifinal, including eight who had multiple points.

* Pacific Division captain Connor McDavid posted the only four-point game of the day, collecting four assists in the opening contest.

ICYMI: Hockey pioneer Willie O’Reewas honored as the Lightning’s Community Hero and received a standing ovation from the fans at AMALIE Arena and thanks from the 2018 All-Stars. He was presented with a donation of $100,000 to support the NHL’s Hockey is for Everyone initiative.

SNEAK PEEK AT TUESDAY’S ACTION

NHL REGULAR-SEASON RETURNS TUESDAY

The NHL will return from the All-Star break with a 12-game slate on Tuesday. Some highlights include:

* Fresh off hosting 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, the League-leading Lightning (34-12-3, 71 points) travel to Winnipeg to face the Central Division-leading Jets (29-13-8, 66 points) at Bell MTS Place.

* The Western Conference-leading Golden Knights (32-12-4, 68 points) look to continue their historic run among NHL expansion franchises when they visit the Flames (25-16-8, 58 points), who enter the contest on an 11-game point streak (7-0-4) – two shy of the franchise record (12-0-1 from Nov. 10 – Dec. 8, 1988).

* The Bruins – who have won five straight games and have earned a point in 18 consecutive contests (14-0-4) – host the Ducks (24-17-9, 57 points) at TD Garden. Only three teams in the last 20 years have strung together a point streak longer than 18 games: the Red Wings (17-0-3 in 2005-06; 20 GP), Sharks (18-0-2 in 2007-08; 20 GP) and Blackhawks (21-0-3 in 2012-13; 24 GP).

* Two players look to extend point streaks to 10 games: Penguins forward Sidney Crosby (3-16—19 in 9 GP) and Stars forward Alexander Radulov (6-10—16 in 9 GP).
