Between bert and domi, Toronto is going to be a pain to play against next year. 

So adding Domi's 3M to Bert's 5.5M, the leafs are 8M over the cap with 2 roster spots to fill yet.

The rumor of TOR moving Nylander and his 7M is no longer enough. Matthews, Tavares, and Marner all have a high enough cap hit to clear if you move one, but they all have full no movement clauses.

But its more complicated still because damn near that entire roster has at least a modified no-trade clause. So even they find a taker for Nylander, or maybe Rielly's 7.5M, plus most any other player on that team, that deal might still be vetoed regardless. And even that would just squeak under the cap without refilling those roster slots on top of the original 2 empty ones.

How the hell do they plan to get out of this one??

Jake Muzzins 5.625M will be on LTIR.

Matt Murrays 4.68M will be traded or bought out.

They cant get value for a Nylander trade yet. So they find a partner at less value or move Marner instead and sign Nylander.

They also have to sign Ilya Samsonov (whos an RFA) and presumably a veteran back up unless they are content with a Samsonov/Woll tandem.

Getting both Domi and Bert for the price it was rumored in Detroit that Bertuzzi was looking for, and for long term.  Good pick up by Toronto.
