from Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe,
It’s not your imagination. Scoring is up in the playoffs. Headed into play late last week, clubs had combined for an average of 6.09 goals per game, the first time games had reached the six-goal threshold since the 1995 postseason, which averaged 6.36.
Average playoff scoring the last seven years: 2011 — 5.61; 2012 — 4.84; 2013 — 5.02; 2014 — 5.59; 2015 — 5.03; 2016 — 5.25; 2017 — 5.16.
The trap-happy Devils swept the Red Wings in the Cup 1995 Final by an aggregate score of 16-7 (5.75 goals per game).
