“I think it’s bullshit that Jay Woodcroft was fired when he was. I think he should have been given more time. I think the under-lying numbers suggested a team that was about to turn it around. I do not believe he lost the room. The guys were still playing hard for him. And I would have given Jay Woodcroft more time...."

I was listening to the Oilers game vs. Seattle on the ride home from Bridgeport on Saturday and was shocked he was let go before the next game vs. the Isles.  I really think it was puck luck that brought Woodcroft down.   The Isles were the better team on Monday night in Knoblach's first game and only major defensive BLUNDERS on the PK by NYI saved that game for him.  I just don't see enough Oil games to comment on their goaltending - but I like Skinner from what little I have seen.   They can win it all this year if they can get past VEGAS and COL.

I wonder if Jay Woodcroft likes bagels, pizza and bad traffic?   I think the Isles may have to make a coaching change and he could be a good fit on an interim basis.  I will wait until say December 6 before really committing to that thought as I see bad puck luck being part of what has ailed Lane Lambert.  But while I stayed up till 1 AM the past two nights - the difference between puck luck and idiotic and lazy play on the PK interfered with 2 really good games at 5x5 for the Isles (VCR and SEA)

Getting back to the Oil, Leon has played well in the games I saw on TV this year and # 97 has not looked like himself.   If he plays more like McDavid of old - watch out Western Conf.   But that said they have to cut down on the goals against - otherwise - they will lose a bunch of 5-4 games.   They are due for a good run, and they may have already started it.  The game in Tampa on Saturday - if they win - can be a catalyst for that.   Winning at Amalie Arena would be a game changer for this season - a quality win on the road in a tough building (regardless that # 88 is not in net) would foster positivity in the team.
