True enough, the Senators lose an important player for a half-season even if they might have lost him for weeks to a negotiating impasse, who knows? But this resolution ultimately benefits Ottawa just the way that the league’s decision to rescind Brady Tkachuk’s one-game suspension for picking up an instigator penalty within the final five minutes of the game against Buffalo on Oct. 24. Surely it is a coincidence that there is new and favored ownership in Canada’s capital city.

Gosh, I really want to find out what exactly Pinto did wrong? I have no way of knowing - but - I wonder if it had to do with letting another person access his account? Gambling is such a problem for those who cannot control their spending. I don't necessarily have a problem with someone placing a $ 5.00 bet on "What color Gatorade will be dumped on the head coaches' head after winning the Super Bowl" or an "Over/under" on how long the national anthem is sung. But there is an issue when so much advertising revenue is gained from betting sites..........and the implied endorsement of gambling from the pro sports team leagues. I don't watch a ton of college sports - but do these gambling sites advertise either in Arena or on tv for college games? That's even worse.
I am a big fan of Larry's "Slap Shots" column, but complaining about the Ottawa Senators - of all teams- getting preferential treatment while his beloved Rag$ never get a call going their way.... Ask Vancouver :)
But back to Pinto - He grew up about 3 miles from where the UBS Arena is. I know some of the young men (and perhaps ladies I assume) in this area have DraftKings or Caesars type accounts. With so many pro teams in the NY area and lots of sustained plugs from respected athletes like McDavid, Gretzky, the Mannings, etc. I have concerns about this. I wonder how many other NHL players are active gamblers (assuming they do not bet on NHL of course) and why should they be penalized for doing so? If NHL players are smart - just ditch the apps and do not gamble on anything. Play cards on the plane or do something else - not worth it.
