from David Staples of the Edmonton Journal,
This in from the Edmonton Oilers, news that they’ve parted ways with head amateur scout Tyler Wright and brought in formers Avs head scout Rick Pracey to take his place: “The Edmonton Oilers announced Tuesday that Rick Pracey has been named Director of Amateur Scouting. The club also announced that it has mutually parted ways with Tyler Wright....
like this move. I like it a lot, but not for the obvious reason. The obvious reason, as we recently reported here, is that the Edmonton Oilers prospect pool was shut out of the NHL Network’s new list of Top 50 NHL prospects. Not one Oilers prospect was in the Top 50.
But is that Tyler Wright’s fault? Not so much. I’ll suggest it’s too early to judge his work in four seasons as Edmonton’s top scout.

Does TW find another Head Scouting position in the NHL? I think probably not.
Gonna be tough sledding when youre picking in the later stages always and your picks get traded for rentals.
still, gotta find young impact players to complement the stars
I think you are right, at least that's part of it for sure. Looking at how Colorado has done, you also can't blame the Oilers for snagging someone from Denver.
Thats not to say he has done a good job, just throwing some context in
no mention of it in article that I could see, but wonder if this is a first sign of *new management*. Did Holland make this choice after hiring this guy away from Detroit(Wright)? Or was it Jackson? Can't help but think Holland is a bit of a lame duck right now. As always, we shall see.
And there is this as well: New Deal for Bouchard? https://edmontonjournal.com/sp...
I will never forget his reaction in the 2019 NHL Draft when instead of drafting who he thought should have been drafted (rumor was it was Zegras that Wright wanted), Yzerman went with Moritz Seider instead. Wright wasn't thrilled with it and was half-ass congratulatory towards Seider.
