Bailey on waivers for buyout purposes.

A terrific Islander.  That said - he has lost a step or two and certainly not worth his cap hit.  To illustrate my point - they (CHI) put 33 year old Josh Bailey on waivers and trade a 7th rounder to get 38 year old Corey Perry.   I am not worried about a 2nd rounder in 2026 yet - Isles can always acquire a pick in the future.   He was just not effective this year.   And it's painful because he is loved by his teammates and about half the fans (the other half have made Bails the whipping boy when the team has not had success and its a bit unfair)

Would he be worth it to bring on the DRW for 1 year at a league minimum cap hit?   He might.  He could add some leadership for the young guys and he is an outstanding teammate and a wonderful guy in the community and would be an asset to the Wings.  That said - I don't think it may be wise to sit a young player for him at this point.   He is a very good penalty killer.  He is a pass first player who if paired with a shoot first linemate - it could be helpful. I will be sad to see him go - but the cap space was just so urgent for the Isles - they had to do this.  Good luck Josh!   I suppose it depends on other players fitting that role (Trusted veteran on a league min contract - kind of like David Justice in "Moneyball" - someone who can show the young kids how to play and gets to stay in the "Show")

Zach Parise played that role last season in NY.   Added a ton of value at his cap hit.   Josh at an 800k cap hit could be intriguing for a team in need of leadership.  Let's see how it all plays out!  It depends on who else could fit that spot - but my inclination is to pass if I were DRW
