from the BBC,
A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson, whose neck was cut during a match.
The Nottingham Panthers player was injured by a skate in a match against Sheffield Steelers on 28 October.
The 29-year-old was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination confirmed Johnson died as a result of a fatal neck injury, South Yorkshire Police said.
The force said detectives arrested the suspect on Tuesday, adding that he remained in custody.
Going through some YouTube videos, there are people saying this was not an accident including Sean Avery and Jeremy Roenick.
Are we really going to take Avery and Roenick's words as gospel now. These two are notorious for wanting all the attention they can get.
I refuse to watch the video. I really don't want to see someone die playing a game I love. The descriptions were more than enough. I'm going to have to trust the judicial system to work this one out.
It's really hard to say it was just an accident when you watch the play. The leg comes up in a fashion that I can't recall ever seeing during any hocky games I've watched in the last ~25 years. I DON'T THINK it was his intention to kick the other player in the neck, but it sure seems like he flailed/swung that leg up with the intention of getting in the way. I don't know if that was his intention or if there was any at all. Knowing nothing about the league or players involved I would tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, but when you hear that the guy had been kicked out of 2 of his last 4 games while leading the league in PIMs it makes that benefit a lot harder to grant. Now the judiciary system goes to work.
I just watched the vid 5 times (for first time) and I cannot conceive why or how the checker raised his leg like that. It is not "a hockey play" anywhere on this planet.
Surprised to see this, but reading the comments I guess I can imagine it...just hard to imagine something like that happening in a game. I have no interest in watching the video.
Don't watch unless you want to see the last few moments of someone losing their life on the rink.
For everyone asking why his leg was up that high, have you never seen a human lose balance before?
The hit was reckless and should warrant manslaughter conviction. He may not have intended on killing Johnson, but the action itself looks to be clearly intentional. An intentional act that results in the unintentional death of another would 100% meet the definition of manslaughter/negligent homicide.
Yes I've seen a human lose balance before lol, this was not that. Watch the video again, the hit was intentional.

Yeah, anyone suggesting this was an "accident" or he "lost his balance" needs to have their eyes checked.
He lifted his leg before he even got to the player.
Petgrave has a history of abuse with not only the players but also the refs.
The self-loathing white people just cheered for Petgrave after they showed his face on the screen at the next game.
An arena filled with people, cheering on a murderer because they're all afraid to be called racist.
Sad world we live in.
Perhaps those cheering were doing it in support of Petgrave for the trauma he is going through. To say they were "cheering a murderer" is making a LOT of assumptions.
i hadn't seen the video with this much quality before. that looks like a karate kick. i don't see how it's an accident. he wanted to impede johnson and the worst happened. guess the legal process will play out.
