from Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
Just when you think the Blues, and goalie Jake Allen, have turned a corner, there’s a brick wall waiting for them, with an open manhole right in front of it. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
Allen, who came into Tuesday night’s game with a 1-7 record in his past eight starts but in general feeling pretty well about how he has played, was given a 2-0 lead in the first period but got pulled in the second period when Florida opened up a 5-3 lead with two goals in 42 seconds (and three in just over four minutes). A 7-4 loss to the Panthers sent the Blues into their off week with a loss that stings.
It was a collective meltdown on the part of the Blues, who spent too much time watching and not enough time skating, and it’s not something that started with this game. The Blues have allowed 17 goals in their past three games, the worst three-game run this season, and a number that is not going to generate many wins.
