The United Center’s visiting dressing room was so quiet as the dejected Blues got dressed Saturday night, you could almost hear the laments of their long-suffering fans back home.
These are the same old Blues, more than a few folks in St. Louis grumbled after the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks surged to a stunning 6-3 come-from-behind victory over the Blues in Game 6.
Three to one. Yes, 3 to 1.
Those are the numbers the Blues and their fans will remember most from the 2016 playoffs if they don’t beat the Blackhawks in the winner-take-all Game 7 on Monday night at Scottrade Center.
If Houston hadn’t already laid claim to Choke City two decades ago, the Blues could definitely use that title after their majestic collapse in Game 6.
Trying to deliver a positive spin, Blues coach Ken Hitchcock claimed that having home ice for Game 7 was “the best-case scenario.”
