I’m scared. I’m not sure I want to live in a world where Mike Milbury makes more sense that Bob McKenzie.

Saying that, I believe Bob is 100% correct that the only way fighting will be fully removed from the game is if a death or winning lawsuit occurs.
Does the NHL really want to wait for that? Especially when (and I can’t believe I’m saying this), Milbury is positively correct when he says the league can put in rules to police the players just fine.
Case in point; Matt Cooke. He fought and fought and still he delivered cheap shots. When he received his 17 game suspension, he became a different player.
If that doesn’t tell you the league can absolutely curtail dangerous hits through suspensions, I don’t know what will.

P.S. Fighting will always be entertaining. I’ve yet to meet someone who didn’t stop to watch a fight.
That doesn’t mean it needs to be in the game.
If the NHL’s product is so crappy that it needs fighting, then maybe the league should make changes so the game itself is more entertaining.

I don’t think it’s an either / or scenario, it’s both. The product itself can be good, but it is even better with the occasional fight (I am not in support of having a goon at the end of the bench just for staged fights); but also the gameplay itself has become so crappy that they need to make changes to bring the entertainment back (from the game itself, not the sideshow crap).
