The Latest On Jack Johnson And His Family Battle

from Rick Westhead of TSN,

Bankrupt NHL defenceman Jack Johnson has accused his parents of mismanaging his finances, overspending on cars, jewelry and extending lines of credit that plunged him into millions of dollars’ worth of debt.

Now, Johnson wants his parents out of their Michigan home, a house he owns, so he can sell the property to help pay down his debts.

But Johnson’s parents are fighting back.

In a letter to a bankruptcy court judge in Ohio - marking one of the few instances where their position on their son’s bankruptcy has been made public - Kristina and John J.L. Johnson II say they signed a 50-year, rent-free lease for the property with their son. They have asked a bankruptcy court judge to prevent Johnson from selling the property.

Yeah, this is always where this was going to end up.  Things were not going to remain amicable.  You can’t do this stuff and not ruin the family.

I really do hope there is a special place in hell for people like Kristina and John Johnson.  Their two concerns are #1 the money is going away, and #2 covering their own reputations.  There is no concern at all about Jack.  That says EVERYTHING you need to know.

Never, ever sign power of attorney over to anyone (ANYONE) unless you literally have nothing for them to take from you.  Because let’s be honest:  in over probably 3/4 of these cases, the whole REASON to get power of attorney is to just get your hands on money that’s not actually yours.

Sad story. Jack reminds me of 60s rock acts that got robbed by their managers because they were not smart enough to add 2+2 or to lazy to be in charge of own finances.
His parents are horrible trash without a doubt.
Hope for his sake the judge rules in his favor.
This reminds me how Fedorov got ripped off for millions by his “buddy” here in Michigan years ago. he got bankrupted too I believe.
Family and friends are great but one of the seven deadly sins often rears it’s ugly head when millions are flashed in faces.
Hope Jack learned a valuable lesson and will manage his money with reputable professional ( non-friend or relative) here on out.

Yeah, this is always where this was going to end up.

Pretty bad when an Agent would have been better than his parents.  Hope he wins and throws them out on the street.

He will be broke again with Legal fees.

A new definition of deadbeat parents. I can only imagine how bad Jack must feel. I’m guessing tossing them out is the last thing he really WANTS to do but they have certainly earned it. If his parents had an ounce of respect or love for him they’d be more than willing to move out.

It’s really hard when you cannot trust family. Best of luck to Jack going forward.

Sad for Jack?!? Ha ha!! According to his own politics, he shouldn’t be relying on anyone and should have pulled up his own damn boot straps! But alas reality set in so his rhetoric doesn’t match his actions (imagine that) and he’s forced to go to the big bad government for help with his own parents. The very people who most likely helped him form his political views. So ironic. They all deserve each in my opinion.
