Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced to the media today that goaltender Michal Neuvirth will be out for three weeks with a lower-body injury.
The announcement comes prior to the team’s optional practice in Voorhees, NJ before they depart for Long Island to kick off a four-game road trip beginning with the Islanders on Monday night.
Neuvirth was slated to start in yesterday’s game vs. Pittsburgh at the Wells Fargo Center but did not play after not feeling right. He last appeared in the Flyers’ 3-2 win over the Blackhawks at Chicago where he stopped 24 of 26 shots.
Neuvirth has a 17-8-4 mark in his first season with the Flyers through 31 games. He has a a 2.28 goals-against average, which is on pace for a new career high, and his .925 save percentage ranks fifth among all NHL goaltenders with a minimum of 22 games played.
