from Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald,
Whether general manager Don Sweeney made a shrewd upgrade or he goofed by letting Khudobin walk, only time will tell.
But it’s certainly not a stretch to believe that Halak’s .908 save percentage will swell considerably when playing behind a Bruins team that allowed 82 fewer goals than the Islanders did last year.
Halak’s performance could maybe be helped with a little less playing time. Maybe not. He did not have a target number for starts, but last year, Rask played 54 games, which seems close to the ideal for him.
“I’ll try to help out any way I can,” Halak said yesterday. “I’ll try to fit in as soon as possible. We’ll see what happens. I’m 33, I know Tuukka is a little younger than me (31). I’m just looking forward to being with him. I know he’s an elite goalie and he proved that every year. Every time I get the chance, I’ll try to help out and we’ll see what happens.”...
He said the decision came down to getting the term he wanted and what was best for his family.
“I have two kids already, and Boston is a great city for family as well, living there,” Halak said. “I think that was the main decision. Also, Boston has a great team, and they’re always on the top of the standings, and I’m just looking forward to helping out.”
