Canada: How Much Are You Paying Per Point?

Seat Geek did an interesting chart, looking at the results—based on average ticket prices and points in the regular season—that hockey fans in Canada are paying for:

Looking at these numbers, Calgary fans are technically getting the best bang for their buck at an average of $1.28 per regular season point. On the other hand, Leafs fans are spending a whopping $2.23 per point despite their team not qualifying for the playoffs since the 2003-04 season.

As for Vancouver, you’d think the results are skewed because they did get 21 more points than the second highest ranked Canadian team for the season. But even if their points dropped to 97 for the season (still beating all other Canadian clubs), they’d remain in 4th position at $1.61/point. (Assuming I calculated it right!)

It’s not every day a Vancouver fan gets to feel like they’re getting a good deal. :)

Anyway, numbers and stats can be juggled in ten different ways, but I thought this was an interesting angle and worth passing on. You can find more at Seat Geek.
