Sources tell TSN that Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa’s injury is worse than originally feared.
“It could be months not weeks” is how Bieksa’s prognosis is now being described.
Bieksa was originally expected to miss eight weeks after sustaining a deep cut on his right calf from the skate of Predators’ forward Vernon Fiddler during the Canucks 3-0 loss to Nashville November 1st. That cut that was deeper than the Canucks initially thought.
Dreger’s “sources” are some of the best in the business and he’s very reliable with the news he breaks on TSN.
However… in this case the phrase “months and not weeks” is how this Bieksa recovery has been described by the entire metro Vancouver area for days now, isn’t it? I’d say his sources are basically quoting every media outlet on the west coast.
Not to mention, “originally expected to miss eight weeks”... I’m thinking that means “months” were sorta understood already.
(Incidentally, we also discussed the issue of Bieksa briefly on the podcast last night—although admittedly, without the authority of “sources” behind us; more like a “stating the obvious” kind of segment.)
Bieksa is, for the moment, just a pleasant memory of 2006-07. We’d better get used to it.
But how about this: Luongo is Borat? This might really be breaking news…
