Season series: The Boston Bruins won the first three games against the Detroit Red Wings this season. They haven't faced each other since Dec. 29 when the Bruins scored three goals in the first period of a 5-2 victory at TD Garden. Bruins forward Carl Soderberg had a goal and two assists. Boston has outshot the Red Wings 84-50 in the past two games.

Red Wings team scope: Detroit heads to Boston after splitting a two-game homestand. Backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson will start after Jimmy Howard allowed four goals on 23 shots in a 5-2 loss against the Calgary Flames at Joe Louis Arena on Friday. Forward Teemu Pulkkinen is expected to play after being recalled from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. In practice Saturday, coach Mike Babcock placed Luke Glendening on the top line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar. Detroit has scored three goals in regulation in its past two games. "We're a team that needs to bounce back," Babcock said, according to Mlive.com "I felt our energy at practice was the best we've had in a bit. We haven't had good energy the last little bit, so I'm hoping the energy is back."

Bruins team scope: Boston extended its point streak to four games when Brad Marchand's overtime goal gave it a 3-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden on Saturday. Sunday ends a four-game homestand for the Bruins, who are two points ahead of the Florida Panthers for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference with two games in hand. "I thought we had a pretty good game," said Marchand, who tied it with 15 seconds left in the third period. "It's always nerve-wracking when they go up by a goal with a minute left, but it just shows the character that we have in this room and to be able to bounce back and be mentally tough in that situation. We're very happy with it and we want to keep building."
