Hockeytown Logo Gone From Center Ice At LCA

Beginning just before the team reeled off consecutive Stanley Cup championships in the 1990s, the team has been the launch point to songs, a sports-themed restaurant downtown and an identity that – along with winning – helped re-energize the base.

But as time has passed, the Red Wings don't exactly feel like America's hockey epicenter. And so, it seems like the folks at Little Caesars Arena have turned the page.

Photos have surfaced on social media that may show a revamped center-ice presentation with a bigger Red Wings logo, but without "Hockeytown" draped across it.

We reached out to the Red Wings to try to get to the bottom of this, but have yet to hear back.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
