Leino, Abbadabbadoo, and Howard? Yep. Well, Helm too. But let’s stick with the first three because it suits the purposes of this brief post.
Slumping, according to the guru, Matthew Wuest at RWC.
Justin Abdelkader has fallen back to earth as an American Hockey League rookie after an abnormal scoring binge in October.
The 21-year-old Grand Rapids Griffins center has a goal and an assist in 11 games in November, a steep drop from the seven goals and two assists in his first seven games that earned him AHL rookie of the month.
Speaking of Leino, he’s cooled off recently. He hasn’t scored a goal since Oct. 25 and has just four assists in his past six games.
Goaltender Jimmy Howard, meanwhile, has lost three straight games in Grand Rapids, allowing a whopping 13 goals on 75 shots.
And before you ask the question, Larsson’s not doing much better with a save percentage (.897) just higher than Howard’s (.887).
Thomas McCullom, however? .928 after 21 games with Guelph of the OHL.
Does anyone really believe Jimmy Howard is ever going to be the unquestioned starter in Hockeytown?
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
