from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
Jake Walman said his legs were shaking as he skated in on goaltender Casey DeSmith 23 seconds into overtime Saturday during his first career penalty shot.
David Perron said Walman was probably thinking of the celebration that would follow.
Walman calmy buried the shot to cap a tremendous comeback and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 at Little Caesars Arena....
Lalonde lauded Alex DeBrincat, 5-8 and 180 pounds, for fighting Ian Cole, 6-1 and 225 pounds, at 17:51 of the second period after the Canucks had scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead.
“Awesome,” Lalonde said. “It’s the second time he’s done it. Our little run into January started with him fighting (Nashville’s Roman) Josi. My son texted me after that game (5-4 overtime win and he’s like, ‘That’s going to be a turning point in your season.’ I was like, ‘Have you notch watched us.’
“When someone like that does that, it just shows some character. When you fight out of your weight class like that and you handle yourself well like that, I think that just lifts the group. That was a nice spark for sure.”
