Looks like Aaron Downey’s return stint with the Wings was a one-game appointment with Steve Ott. Back to GR he goes. And it would appear those of us attending the Wing/Cap game tomorrow here in DC may not get to see Hank Zetterberg because Justin Abdelkader’s been called up in place of Downey.

The Red Wings announced today that they have recalled forward Justin Abdelkader from their AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids, and reassigned forward Aaron Downey.
Along with rookie forward Ville Leino, Downey, 34, was called up by the Red Wings this week. The moves were necessary to fill roster vacancy created by injuries to defenseman Brad Stuart (ribs) and forward Henrik Zetterberg (lower back).

Precaution or necessity? We’ll see. As much as I’d like to see Zetterberg in there tomorrow, I also wouldn’t mind seeing a line that includes Leino and Abadabbaboobiedoo.
