Flew in to Brendan Shanahan’s new hometown today. Caught the last six minutes of the Blues fest on the radio. Nice.
Honestly, it’s hard to fathom that a team playing for the division gets only two points out of consecutive games with Columbus and St. Louis. It’s pathetic is what it is. And what are we left with after the most recent display of Hank-less offense? Complete and total uncertainty.
How’s Lebda? Don’t know.
Khan(!)/MLive
Lebda was alert and doing fine at the hospital, where he will have further tests to determine if there’s any facial injuries. Nieminen, who visited him at the hospital after being ejected from the game, hit Lebda from behind, driving his head into the metal partition that separates the glass at 6:32 of the first period. Lebda was bleeding and wheeled off the ice on a stretcher with his head and neck immobilized.
“The big thing is you don’t want any breakage,’’ Babcock said. “At this time, we haven’t heard anything negative.’‘
How’s the offense? Don’t know.
36 shots over the final two periods yesterday? Nifty. We’ve seen this act before in the springtime and it sucks high and hard. Bertuzzi looks great. He had the second most minutes of any forward yesterday with 18+ and the second most PP minutes, behind Holmstrom, of any forward with nearly 7. But we all know he’s not the linchpin.

Henrik Zetterberg expects to be ready for the playoffs—but he’s realistic.
With any back injury, it’s a bit of a guessing game.
“If it’s the same progress as it’s been the last week, I’ll be playing,” Zetterberg said. “But you never know with the back. A little tweak, or something, and you’re right back at the beginning.”
I was actually thinking today that it may not be the back at all, as I’m sure some of you imagined at one point or another. I thought it might be his wrist acting up again and some institutional secrety hiding that fact. But, no. It’s the back. Even Holland and company aren’t capable of floating that kind of lie without a leak.
How’s the division? Who do we have if the choke job continues? Don’t know.
Right now the Wings sit two points back with a game in hand and the final war with Bubba on Thursday. We’ve got the Duckies on Tuesday. If trends continue, the Wings win that one and away we go. But who the hell knows with this team right now.
Other than Lebda’s health, which appears to be fine—other than a concussion—the significant concern is which team is going to show up after the regular season’s over. Naturally, that hinges on Hank. And as for him? Well…we just don’t know.
Oh and one final tidbit for the asshats who continue to boo Sergei Fedorov? Ever think he might be starting to thrive on it? Has that crossed your minds geniuses? It’s occurred to his teammates. Have you read about their reaction when he entered the lockerroom after his winner the other night?
They boo’d. Then everybody had a good laugh.
And when you start to whine about “how he left,” I suggest you start thinking how you’re going to treat Brendan Shanahan if and when he returns to the Joe in a different sweater. You gonna boo him too? I’m betting you don’t. And when you decide that’s not in your game plan, consider who meant more to all three Cups…Shanny or Fedorov?
Idiots. Let’s take the kids to the Joe and boo one of the greatest Wings in history. Brilliant.
