Well ,to put it in perspective,at least that only appears to have happened in Texas. It was only a few years ago NBC deep-sixed an OT for horse racing, nationwide.

We’ve come a long way, baby!

The Cleveland NBC affiliate still dumps Red Wings playoff games for regular season Indians baseball games every year. BTW, the Indians games are also run on Fox Sports - the local affiliate does not have exclusivity on the baseball broadcast, just the hockey broadcast.

I’m so glad someone on this site pointed me to hockeystreams

let’s not get crazy here. As someone who lives and plays in Austin, we only have one hockey rink, down from two last year. The Texas Stars are here and that is great, but they do not reach a large population of residents. Austin needs another rink - preferably a large ice complex that caters to figure skating, hockey, and other entertainment. Unlike Los Angeles and Dallas, Austin does not have an NHL team that they could leverage and bring in the moms and kids. Houston has a flourishing high school program thanks to many Canadian oil company worker transplants, but they recently lost the Aeros to relocation (Minnesota affiliate). Until a new rink (or two) comes to Austin that caters to a wider fan-base, hockey will continue to stagnate here.

Here in South Carolina my Tv jumped to the qvc channel and the emergency broadcast system had a test wiping out 5 minutes of the ot.

Was at a bar for game 3 and the satellite went out for ot. It restarted and refroze at the point where the winning goal was just about to cross the goal line. What timing.
