Tkachuks are hard to cheer for.  Dad on down not tobright but the name gets them drafted.  It was good to not gain a point, tankers

They are almost in Marchand territory, where you genuinely wish
bad things to happen to them.

Also, for what it’s worth, Brady Tkachuk is surely the ugliest guy in the entire NHL.

NEW YORK (Dec. 7, 2019) – Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk has been fined $2,486.56, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton during NHL Game No. 452 in Philadelphia on Saturday, Dec. 7, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 19:33 of the third period. Tkachuk was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking as well as a minor penalty for roughing.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

So departing from playing the game in order to crosscheck an opponent
and then jump him when he’s down, is a $2,000 and change fine?

I take it the NHL is essentially trying to incentivize this behavior?
Why not stop playing hockey and go after an opponent this way in the dying seconds of a game when this is the only cost?

Instigating a fight which is essentially what Tkachuk did is supposed to mean an automatic suspension.

Except I bet it matters a good deal the name of the player on the back of the jersey
and the name and team of the opponent you do it to.

Obviously if your name is Malkin and the commissioner thinks your team should win
a Cup asap for marketing purposes you can jump another team’s star player and the league will informally waive the rule.
