Oh, look! Another retarded player going head first and baiting hits to the head!

This is getting really stupid, really fast

He saw the other player coming (come on, it came from right in front)
Didnt try to protect himself AT ALL
WTF?

Huskins did this twice during his limited time with the wings. I’m starting to think that he is tryin to draw these kinds of hits.

what are you even talking about? what does “going head first” even mean? is there such a thing as going “feet first”? he was skating forward if that’s what you mean? he actually held the puck till the last second and was going to take a hit to make a play. he was braced for a body check and got it on the chin. there’s no “protecting” ones self unless you give him a stick or elbow to the face.

the fact is, Huskin’s head was up and he didn’t move it suddenly at all. it was simply a horribly thrown check. White screwed up the timing and just plain missed his body (after charging 30ft to do it too). it was a garbage hit and he deserves any discipline he has coming. definitely deserved to be thrown out.

Flyers announce Huskins does have a concussion.

Huskins is kinda’ a weak skater, and a weak puckhandler to boot.  With another player I honestly might agree something was up because of how awkward it looked.  However, this is Kent Huskins, not Bobby Orr or Paul Coffey.  I think Huskins just isn’t very good on his skates and with his body.

You’d think some people would know that.

Huskins is now concussed according to Twitter.  Yup, I’m *sure* he gave himself head trauma and risked his career and future mental abilities on purpose by sticking his head and face out to draw a hit and a potential penalty, on a team that employs him because they can’t keep d-men healthy…

EXACTLY, he was going to take a hit to make the safe play.  We’re just so used to seeing Wings players make shitty passes to dodge hits, that we don’t recognize someone willing to pay the price to make the right hit.  He just couldn’t have known dude was gonna put a shoulder in his jaw.

This is reaching for a puck or admiring a pass.

Going by the precident set when Brendan Smith got suspended, this should be at least eight games.  In my opinion this was worse than the hit Smith got suspended for.  White skated half the length of the ice to make this hit.

Nobody has ever been comparably suspended to Smith.

It’s the Habs so I predict 2 games tops.  Can’t go suspending Canadian boys on Canadian teams this time of year, after all…

I know, right?  Like, remember just last year when Canadian bou Raffi Torres of the Canadian team the Vancouver Canucks got absolutely nothing for his ridiculous hit on non-Canadian boy Marian Hossa from non-Canadian team the Chicago Blackhawks?

Nothing.  Not a single game.

Shove it up your xenophobic ass.

Torres was a Coyote when he hit Hossa.

And the coyotes don’t count as a Canadian team yet.  Next April might be another story.

Another Canadian tradition, Garth?  Is that what good “Canadian bous” (sic) do now too?

Orrrrrrrr… maybe you could read something and recognize Don Cherry-ish parody when you see it.  Because nobody EVER does that on the internet or anything.

How many years have you been new here, again?

Perfection, I understand this is, as the rules say, an ilegal hit…

But, if you say that Huskins is “taking the hit to make the play”, then he KNOWS hes gonna get hit… And HARD…  You dont think this is stupid?
I CAN’T understand how a player can think taking a concussion probable hit, wins over a shitty pass…

Im sorry, but I would rather have my wings players doing a shitty pass and NOT getting killed on ice
Its a crappy situation, and the sad part is that the NHL doesnt care about it
Why are players still wearing heavy armor on their shoulders? Makes no sense at all…

Take it easy on him.  It’s hard to keep up with the facts when you’re trying to remember which 7 posters on the site you’ve generated a feud with this week.

The flaw in that logic is that it calls on players to assume they’ll be hit illegally.  The players should be able to assume they’ll be hit legally.  Taking a hit to make a play should be an option.

Montreal Canadiens center Ryan White faces a disciplinary hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for an incident that occurred during a game Monday night against the Philadelphia Flyers at Bell Centre.

The date and the timing of the hearing has yet to be determined. White has been offered an in-person hearing at the League’s Manhattan office, which means the penalty could be a ban of more than five games.

The following grounds for the proposed supplemental discipline are being considered: illegal check to the head.

The above via NHL.com.

This…You don’t think White is clearly trying to take an unnecessary, dangerous run at Huskins there? He’s going full steam and decides to lift his shoulder to hit him in the head. I get it’s a bang bang play but guys have to be held responsible for that recklessness. Nothing good came of that hit, there’s no use for that in this sport.

You’re raised on this sport to learn that you’re going to get hit, you can’t skate around ducking, thinking that every time someone comes at you it’s going to be late and straight to the head.

I’m predicting a 4 game suspension on this, fully anticipating to be let down by good ol’ #14. But I might as well be throwing dice given the inconsistency in the assessments of games suspended for illegal head hits (or in this case, head-hunts).
