Video- Did Evander Kane Shove A Linesman?

from TSN,

San Jose Sharks forward  was ejected from the team’s final preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights for an abuse of officials infraction.

The incident occurred at the 12:51 mark of the third period when Kane became involved in an altercation with Golden Knights defenceman .  Linesman Kiel Murchison separated the two players and knocked Kane to the ice in the process, as the two got up, Kane appeared to shove Murchison in the chest.

Kane was assessed a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct on the play. Pending league review, Kane could face an automatic 10-game suspension under Rule 40.2, Physical Abuse of Officials.

After the game, Kane said there is a difference in the way he is treated compared to other players on the ice when it comes to scrums and gave his side of the incident with the linesman.

"I get kicked out of the game for getting jumped from behind by the referee," Kane said....

Yes, he did shove a linesman. He won’t get suspended because he’ll turn this into a race issue…..if he hasn’t already.

It was ridiculous the way the official tackles him on the ice. That’s inappropriate, too.

He pushed the ref for sure, although the video provided didnt show the actions of the ref.

And nowhere in the article does Kane mention race.

He should not get suspended because he has a point on this particular play, the ref got overzealous with his take down, likely because he caught a piece of that chop Kane delivered, but never the less, a bit over the top considering the two tripped and he took him down.

That said, if he keeps running his mouth in the media and shines that spot light here, that might cause the league to have to suspend or fine him to set a precedent to others.

As far as the overall treatment he mentioned, he’s a big guy that plays hard and physical, if i’m in stripes looking to calm down a scrum, I’m not grabbing like a Hirose character, Kane or in the case of the Wings, I’d grab a Abby or Mantha, if you play with a physical edge, that’s what comes with it.

Ugh.  Yeah, Kane unfortunately has a bit of a case here.

I want an official explanation as to why the linesman specifically felt he needed to bring Kane down to the ice, as opposed to just staying in between guys or something.  Kane wasn’t really heading towards anyone in particular, and yet the linesman tackled him anyways.

It seemed out of line and excessive.  I’ve been seeing officials doing this a lot more lately, and I don’t like it.  They need to stop getting physical themselves.  That’s not why they’re there, and if they need to do that they’re not doing their jobs very well.

I’m guessing he probably made contact with the linesman during that slash.  If it were me I would also be un-professionally angry if I was the linesman and ended up catching some of the composite from Kane.  Those guys don’t have any of the protection and an ill-placed slash could wreck a guy’s finger forever (I may have some experience with this…......unfortunately).

Did he need to take him down?  I don’t know.  Maybe he said something to the linesman as well…no one here knows.
