Video- Benoit Pouliot Hit On Max Talbot

Benoit Pouliot received a five minute major for boarding, a ten and game misconduct for the hit.

Talbot did return in the early part of the 3rd period.

I don't believe there was any intent to injure on the play and it just seemed to be the type of play that just happens at times.

Agreed. Painful no doubt, but if Talbot keeps his feet that’s a nothing play. .

You can tell from Pouliot’s reaction right at the end of the video that it wasn’t intentional.  He was reaching out to Talbot to help him.  Was an ugly hit, but I can’t see him being suspended for that one.  Unfortunate play with a bad result.

He didn’t get a ten minute misconduct, he got 5+game.  Hit didn’t look intentional by any means.

xc, according to TSN boxscore...

17:00 NY Rangers Benoit Pouliot: 5 minutes, boarding
17:00 NY Rangers Benoit Pouliot: 10 minutes, game misconduct

A game misconduct = 10 minutes of penalty time yes, but he didn’t get a 10 minute misconduct AND a game as was reported in the first line, he just got a game misconduct.

Looked like he saw what was coming and was trying to grab his sweater to help him before he hit the boards.  There is zero reason for a suspension

Watched it live and all the post-game reaction. Definitely wasn’t intentional and unfortunately when he went to grab Talbot he kinda pushed him a little which is probably what got him the 5 and game. He was trying to hold him up the whole way in and just couldn’t do it. Talbot and Berube both afterwards basically said the same thing and I don’t think it should result in any kind of a suspension.
