Time For The Blackhawks To Get Serious

from Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago,

No one move will make the difference, it’s a cumulative effect, but now that the Wings have proved they can play with the Hawks it’s time for the favorite to get serious. Speed and chaos – as seen in Game 1 -- is called for and the Hawks have been able to accomplish that at Joe Louis Arena lately as much as any team in the league. But Detroit has been decent enough in Chicago over the years too. They were again on Saturday.

“They had the puck a lot tonight,” Kane said. “Took a page out of our game. I felt like we were chasing the puck all the time.”

That was Detroit’s game before it was the Hawks’. The Wings never stopped playing that way, they simply haven’t been as good at it over the last few years. Saturday showed they can still bring it, if their seven-game series win over the Ducks didn’t.

more with some suggested changes...

ROFL.  He just told $0.20, “You have short-term memory and you’re an idiot.”

...after Game 1, in which the Chicago Blackhawks dominated the Detroit Red Wings in their best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal, just as they had in the regular season.

They “dominated” the Wings in exactly one game. The rest were all one-goal games, some settled only in a shootout. Writers can rewrite history – but they can never change it.

...the NHL giving the Wings an unexpected extra day off after their seven-game bout with the Anaheim Ducks.

It was hardly “unexpected” because your arena was already booked for a Bulls playoff game, you ignoramous. Jeebus, do Chicago writers even know what’s going on in the sports they cover?

Dude got in a fight with a cab driver over small change.  Stupid?  Check.  Arrogant?  Check.  Punk?  Definitely.

Exactly, 2 games went to a shootout and one was decided in OT.  We had them shutout in one of the shootout games until a very late delay of game penalty.  There was 1 bad game, the rest were all toss-ups.

The Red Wings are also playing their best hockey all season. This team today is superior to the team that took Chicago to 3 OTs before. Anyone thinking this was going to be a cakewalk for Chicago hasn’t been paying attention to how the season progressed. Chicago is a damn good team. But they’re not quite the super-unbeatable team the first 25 games made them out to be. And Detroit isn’t quite the squeak-in 7th seed the media likes to talk about. If both teams played the entire season like they’ve played the last two weeks, Chicago would’ve still taken the Division and Conference, possibly the President’s Trophy, but Detroit would’ve been close to a 4 seed.

from the comments…

I’ve lived in Chicago and you people are, by far, the worst, most obnoxious, classless fans I’ve ever seen…..When you won the Cup a few years back, your fans were out in the streets chanting “Detroit sucks.” Really?

LOL

I can’t wait until we get a chance to beat Chicago in the SCF.

It’s more fun to beat the sh*t out of them and not even give them a deep run, honestly…
