Rene Bourque Had Abdominal Surgery

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin issued a medical update Wednesday concerning the status of forward Rene Bourque.

Bourque successfully underwent surgery to repair an abdominal wall tear and will be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks. The surgery was performed earlier today in Montreal.

Rene Bourque suffered the injury during his off-season training in preparation for the 2012-13 season.

I still hate this guy for his dirty hit on Nicklas Backstrom, but I hope for a speedy recovery for him.  (And a CBA so that he has something to return to.)
