Pat Maroon And Luke Schenn Staying With The Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forward Pat Maroon to a two-year contract worth an AAV of $900,000 and defenseman Luke Schenn to a one-year deal worth $800,000, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Maroon, 32, skated in 64 games with the Lightning during the 2019-20 regular season, posting nine goals and 23 points to go along with 71 penalty minutes. He also skated in 25 Stanley Cup Playoff games, tallying a goal and six points with 32 penalty minutes. Maroon registered an assist on Blake Coleman’s goal in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Dallas Stars. He has won Stanley Cups in back-to-back seasons (St. Louis in 2019).

The St. Louis, MO native has appeared in 513 career NHL games over nine seasons with the Lightning, St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils, Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks, recording 97 goals and 229 points with 586 penalty minutes. He tallied a career-best 27 goals while with Edmonton during the 2016-17 season.

Maroon was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round, 161st overall, at the 2007 NHL Draft.

Schenn, 30, skated in 25 games with the Lightning during the 2019-20 regular season, posting a goal and three points to go along with 23 penalty minutes. He made his Bolts debut on October 30 against the New Jersey Devils and netted his first Lightning goal in his home debut on November 14 versus the New York Rangers. The 6-foot-2, 224-pound defenseman also skated in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording two assists, a plus-3 rating and seven penalty minutes. Schenn also skated in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Dallas Stars.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 759 career NHL games over 12 seasons with the Lightning, Vancouver Canucks, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs, recording 31 goals and 148 points. Schenn set career highs for goals (five) and points (22) during the 2010-11 season while with Toronto. He also appeared in six games with the Syracuse Crunch in 2019-20, notching six assists and 15 penalty minutes.

Schenn was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in the first round, fifth overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft.
