Only One Side Has Made Concessions And It Is Not The Owners

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,
So The owners and the owners’ commissioner are nearly a month into the lockout — one they designed and implemented in a naked power play to force the players to their knees. And do you know why they did it? Because they can, that’s why. Because they believe themselves to be entitled, that’s why. Because they own the keys, that’s why.
None of that changes because the players haven’t presented a new proposal to the NHL over the last month. None of that changes because some players have opted to play in Europe.
This notion that somehow there’s a shared responsibility for the dark NHL rinks across the continent is, well, to borrow a phrase, a bunch of malarkey.
One side, and one side only, has offered concessions in an attempt to settle this dispute and have a season. That’s the players’ side. It is not a concession when the owners and their commissioner agree to accept fewer concessions from the players than originally demanded in the league’s July 13 Declaration of Economic War against the NHLPA.That does not represent a compromise on the part of the Lords of the Boards, no matter how many times the owners’ deputy commissioner Bill Daly suggests it is so.

That is a really stupid opinion. It requires a non-functional understanding pro sports, economics, negotiations and common sense.
Simultaneously.
So, in as much as Brooks’ position requires him to be wrong about 4 or 5 things all at the same time, I suppose that kind of dedication to pure old fashioned Dumb (capital D) should be recognized for the accomplishment it is.

If Brooks had written this before the owners revised their 2nd proposal (the one that expired September 15th), then he would have been right. Crossing into the insulting first proposal only to back off of that into an actual starting point for negotiations doesn’t count as concessions, but I’d say the league certainly has done that since then.
As it stands, Brooks’ pro-Union rhetoric is ridiculous.

Someone really needs to see if Brooks is receiving compensation from the PA. And no, I’m not joking.
Seriously, his pro-Union stance has grown more and more ridiculous as this wears on. His status as the PA’s bullhorn really has me wondering… nobody else seems to share his sentiments quite to his level. Something is fishy…

First of all Brookes is a clown. Secondly neither the owners or the players give a damn about us, the fans.
That’s why I have NO INTEREST in this crap. Just tell me when it’s over. Then I can go to a game. It’s foolish to waste any energy taking sides in a fight where the combatants don’t evennow we’re alive.
I have come to the conclusion that the fans will never wise up and go on strike.
Now that would get everyones attention.

Everyone knows Bettman is solely responsible for the lockout so cindy has time to recover from his fragile head injury. This is pretty much common knowledge to those in the know.
