Instead of taking the glory-gang pictures off the walls of the Edmonton Oilers dressing room, first-year NHL coach Dallas Eakins needs to pad the walls. He needs a hypnotist more than a conditioning coach.

Last night was as good an example as any.

For openers against the Phoenix Coyotes, the Oilers looked very much like they had their plane tickets in their pockets to head to Las Vegas or Mexico this morning.

They looked like a team which had quit on the rest of the season, at least the part of it prior to the Olympic break.
