SENATORS BLANK CANADIENS AT NHL100 CLASSIC

Ottawa native Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored the game-winning goal at 14:55 of the second period and Craig Anderson stopped all 28 shots he faced to lead the Senators past the Canadiens in front of a sellout crowd of 33,959 at the 2017 Scotiabank NHL100 Classic at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa.

* Senators captain Erik Karlsson (0-1—1), who recorded the primary assist on Pageau’s game-winning goal and finished the game with a plus-3 rating, set NHL regular-season outdoor game records for time on ice (32:55) and blocked shots (8).

* Anderson recorded his second shutout of the season (40th career) and just the fourth shutout in the NHL's 23 regular-season outdoor games to date. The others: Calgary’s Miikka Kiprusoff in the 2011 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at McMahon Stadium (39 SV vs. MTL), Anaheim’s Jonas Hiller in the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series at Dodger Stadium (36 SV at LAK) and Cam Talbot in the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at Investors Group Field (31 SV at WPG).

* All-time franchise points leaders Guy Lafleur of the Canadiens and Daniel Alfredsson of the Senators dropped the ceremonial opening pucks.

OUTDOOR GAME QUICK HITS

* The Senators improved to 2-0-0 in NHL outdoor games; Ottawa made its first such appearance in the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at BC Place in Vancouver, picking up a 4-2 victory over the Canucks.

* The Canadiens dropped to 2-2-0 outdoors. Montreal won the first such contest in League history – the 2003 Molson Canadian NHL Heritage Classic (4-3 W at EDM), lost the 2011 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic (4-0 at CGY) and won the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic (5-1 at BOS).

* A sellout crowd of 33,959 attended the 2017 Scotiabank NHL100 Classic. Total attendance for the League’s 23 regular-season outdoor games now stands at 1,242,276 – an average of 54,012 per game.

GOSTISBEHERE POWERS FLYERS TO SIXTH CONSECUTIVE WIN

Shayne Gostisbehere (2-0—2) scored with 1:10 remaining in overtime to power the Flyers to their sixth consecutive win on the heels of a 10-game skid (0-5-5). Elias notes that Philadelphia became the third team in NHL history to post six or more consecutive wins immediately following a winless stretch of at least 10 games.

* Gostisbehere scored his fifth career regular-season overtime goal. Only two defensemen have scored more such goals since Gostisbehere made his NHL debut on Oct. 25, 2014 (John Moore and Brent Burns: 6).

LIGHTNING HANG ON FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT VICTORY

Mikhail Sergachev (1-1—2) scored the game winner in a high-scoring third period that saw Tampa Bay and Colorado combine for six goals to lift the League-leading Lightning (24-6-2, 50 points) to their seventh straight victory. Elias notes that the Lightning established a franchise record for fewest games to reach 50 points in a season (32 GP), eclipsing the previous mark of 38 contests set in 2013-14 and matched in 2014-15.

* Sergachev scored his fifth game-winning goal of the season and paces rookie defensemen with 8-15—23 in 2017-18 (32 GP). Sergachev became the fourth rookie blueliner in NHL history to score five or more game-winning goals in a season.

OVECHKIN CLIMBS ALL-TIME GAME-WINNING GOALS LIST

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (1-1—2) scored his NHL-record 21st career regular-season overtime goal to pass Bobby Hull and Guy Lafleur for sole possession of ninth place on the League’s all-time game-winning goals list.

HUTTON SETS BLUES RECORD FOR MOST SAVES IN A SHUTOUT

Blues goaltender Carter Hutton turned aside all 48 shots he faced – including 21 in the second period – to record his first shutout of the season (ninth career). Hutton established a franchise record for most saves in a shutout, eclipsing the previous mark set by Chris Mason on Nov. 25, 2008 at NSH (47).

LANDESKOG POSTS CAREER-HIGH FIVE POINTS

Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog (3-2—5) scored his second hat trick of the season (3-0—3 on Nov. 16 vs. WSH) and added two assists to post a career-high five points. He joined Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (3) and Islanders captain John Tavares (2) as the only players to record multiple hat tricks in 2017-18.
