MALCOLM SUBBAN EARNS WIN IN FIRST MEETING WITH BROTHER P.K.
Malcolm Subban
made a career-high 41 saves and Erik Haula scored the tying goal with 39.9 seconds remaining in regulation to help the Golden Knights rally for their third consecutive win.

* Friday’s contest between Vegas and Nashville marked the first regular-season meeting between Malcolm and his older brother P.K. Subban, a defenseman for the Predators. Elias notes that the Subbans became the 10th set of brothers to meet in an NHL game, with one as a skater and the other as a goaltender.

* Malcolm and P.K. – whose younger brother Jordan Subban was acquired by the Kings this week – posed for a photo with their father during warmup. Click here to watch the trio pose for photos on the ice before the game.

PANARIN MATCHES FRANCHISE RECORDS WITH FIVE ASSISTS
Artemi Panarin
(0-5—5) established single-game career highs for assists and points to help the Blue Jackets(18-10-1, 37 points) move into a tie for the most points in the Metropolitan Division. Panarin matched franchise records for most assists and points in a game.

* Panarin became the 25th player to record at least five primary assists in a game since 1936-37 and the first to do since April 18, 1995, when Brian Leetch had five for the Rangers. The record for most primary assists in a game is seven, set by Wayne Gretzky on Dec. 11, 1985.

CAPITALS EARN 12TH HOME WIN AGAINST METROPOLITAN DIVISION RIVAL
The Rangers overcame a 2-0 deficit, but the Capitals scored twice in the final 3:32 of regulation to extend their win streak to a season-high four games. Washington, who led the League with 32 home wins in 2016-17, improved to 12-5-0 at Capital One Arena this season to tie idle Tampa Bay (12-2-1, 25 points) for the most home wins in the NHL.

* The Capitals (18-11-1, 37 points) are tied with the Blue Jackets (18-10-1, 37 points) for the most points in the Metropolitan Division standings, where positions Nos. 1-6 are separated by just five points.

* A team from the Metropolitan Division has won the Presidents’ Trophy in three of four seasons since the current divisional format was adapted in 2013-14 – the Capitals won each of the past two seasons and the Rangers won in 2014-15.

DEFENSEMEN POWER BLACKHAWKS, WILD TO OT VICTORIES

The Blackhawks and Wild clinched victories via overtime goals by defensemen:

* Gustav Forsling (1-2—3) assisted on the game-tying goal with 3:22 remaining in regulation and scored with 4.9 seconds left in overtime to help the Blackhawks snap a five-game slide (0-3-2). Forsling (21 years, 179 days) became the second-youngest defenseman in franchise history to score a regular-season overtime goal, behind Brent Seabrook – he tallied two such goals as a 20-year-old in November 2005.

* Matt Dumba scored an overtime goal for the second time in his past three games (also Dec. 2 vs. STL) to power the Wild past the Ducks. Dumba joined Devils defenseman John Moore (also two) as the only blueliners in the NHL to notch multiple overtime goals this season.

KINGS LOOK TO EXTEND WIN STREAK TO EIGHT GAMES

The Western Conference-leading Kings (19-8-3, 41 points) look to extend their win streak to eight games when they host the Hurricanes (11-10-6, 28 points) at STAPLES Center.

* The Kings’ seven-game run is the longest win streak in the NHL this season and the longest by Los Angeles since an equal run from Oct. 16-31, 2015. The Kings have had three winning streaks of at least eight games since 2009-10: from Jan. 21-Feb. 6, 2010 (9-0-0), Feb. 6-March 10, 2014 (8-0-0) and Feb. 7-24, 2015 (8-0-0).

* The Kings can also match their franchise record for fewest games to reach the 20-win mark in a season (31 GP), a feat achieved four times in club history (1988-89, 1992-93, 2013-14 and 2015-16).
