BY THE NUMBERS: 15-GAME NIGHT
For the 10th time in NHL history (second this season), 15 games were contested on the same date.

MOMENT OF SILENCE OBSERVED BEFORE ALL 15 GAMES
As part of League’s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, players and fans across all 15 NHL arenas in action on Wednesday stood together to shine a light in remembrance of those we have lost, and to pledge to fight even harder for those battling. Click the image below to watch a compilation of the moments from across the league.

BOESER TAKES ROOKIE SCORING LEAD IN CANUCKS WIN
Brock Boeser scored twice – his fourth consecutive game with a goal and fifth with a point (6-1—7) – to take over the rookie scoring lead (11-10—21) and help the Canucks record their eighth road win of the season, tied for the most in the NHL (w/ STL).

* Boeser is the first rookie to score in four consecutive team games in 2017-18; four rookies achieved the feat last season, led by Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel and Toronto’s AustonMatthews who each had five-game goal streaks. Only one rookie in Canucks franchise history has scored in more than four consecutive team games –Dennis Ververgaert had a six-game goal streak in 1973-74 (8-2—10).

* Elias notes that Boeser became the fourth rookie in franchise history to score multiple goals in consecutive team games. No Canucks rookie has ever scored multiple goals in three consecutive games.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS MATCH ANOTHER 100-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK
Vegas overcame a 2-0 deficit before James Neal (1-1—2) scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season with 8:42 remaining in regulation to power the Golden Knights to a 13-6-1 record, including three straight wins. Vegas matched the NHL record for most wins by a team through the first 20 games of its inaugural season.

FORSBERG, MACKINNON STAY HOT AS PREDS, AVS CONTINUE HOME SUCCESS
Predators forward Filip Forsberg (2-0—2) and Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon (0-3—3) each collected multiple points to help their clubs improve to 8-1-1 and 7-1-1 at home, respectively. Both teams have won five consecutive games in their home buildings – Colorado lost 4-3 in overtime as the home team in the 2017 SAP NHL Global Series in Stockholm, Sweden.

* Forsberg, who extended his point streak to six games (3-6—9), scored both of Nashville’s goals in regulation before Montreal forced overtime with a tying goal at 19:04 of the third period. There have been 10 tying goals scored in the final minute of regulation this season; the team that ties the game holds a 4-0-6 record in those contests.

* MacKinnon registered multiple points for the seventh time in his past 10 games (6-14—20) and Jonathan Bernier (28 saves) posted his first shutout with the Avalanche. Elias notes that MacKinnon became the firstAvalanche player with at least 20 points in a 10-game span since Joe Sakic did so from March 20 – April 9, 2006 (7-13—20 in 10 GP).

60 IS NOT ENOUGH
Six of 15 games went past regulation on Wednesday, with three decided in overtime:

* Sergei Bobrovsky made 22 saves and Josh Anderson scored the only goal at 2:02 of overtime as the Blue Jackets extended their win streak to five games. Bobrovsky, who has been in net for all five games on the team’s current streak (0.78 GAA, .974 SV%, 2 SO), registered his third shutout of the season to move into a share of the League lead (w/ Frederik Andersen and Devan Dubnyk).

* Josh Bailey (1-2—3) capped his fourth three-point game of 2017-18 with the overtime winner to help the Islanders improve to 7-0-2 at Barclays Center and remain the only team without a regulation loss on home ice this season. John Tavares (0-2—2) escaped multiple checks in the corner before setting up the overtime goal; he ranks tied for 12th in the NHL with 15-10—25 this season.

* Brayden Point scored his third game-winning goal of the season (second in overtime) to help the Lightning overcome an early two-goal deficit to regain top spot in the NHL (16-3-2, 34 points). The Lightning also lead the League in home wins this season (9-2-1, 19 points).

KHUDOBIN, MCAVOY LIFT BRUINS TO VICTORY IN 11-ROUND SHOOTOUT
Anton Khudobin made 40 saves through overtime and denied 10 shootout attempts before Charlie McAvoyscored the game-deciding goal for the Bruins in the 11th round of the shootout. Khudobin improved to 6-0-2 in nine appearances this season (2.13 GAA, .938 SV%).

* Wednesday marked the 23rd time in NHL history (first this season) that a shootout required at least 11 rounds; there were two such instances in 2016-17 (14 rounds – NYI 3, ANA 2; 11 rounds – ARI 3, LAK 2). It was the longest shootout in Devils history and the second-longest for the Bruins (12 rounds – EDM 4, BOS 3).
