SHARKS CONTINUE PERFECT START . . .
Martin Jones made 31 saves – and denied two shootout attempts – and Brent Burnsscored the game-deciding goal to lead the Sharks to a 4-0-0 start for the fourth time in franchise history and third time in the last four seasons (also 2008-09, 4-0-0; 2012-13, 7-0-0; and 2013-14, 6-0-0).

* Jones, who fell 3:38 shy of his third consecutive shutout, has stopped 108 of 122 shots in his first four games with the Sharks. His 234:33 shutout streak is the longest in franchise history, besting the mark previously held by teammate Alex Stalock (178:55).

* Via Elias, Jones is the first goaltender to allow two goals or fewer through his first four games with a team since Matt Hackett w/ MIN from Dec. 2011 to Feb. 2012.

* Elias adds that the Sharks are the first team to allow two goals or fewer through their first four games of a season since the Red Wings in 1948-49 (also 2 GA in 4 GP).

* Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer, who spent the last three-plus seasons with the Devils and led the club to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final, earned the victory in his return to New Jersey.

. . . JETS, BLUES KEEP PACE IN WEST
The Jets and Blues both earned victories to push their records to 4-1-0 and keep pace with Sharks atop the Western Conference standings.

* The Jets trailed 1-0 early but scored three unanswered goals - including Dustin Byfuglien's tiebreaking marker with 1:28 remaining in regulation - to win their home opener. Byfuglien scored his 28th career game-winning goal and 16th such tally with the Jets/Thrashers; no other defenseman has more than seven game-winning goals for the club.

* Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little each collected 1-1—2. Wheeler stretched his season-opening point streak to five games (3-4—7), one game shy of matching the longest point streak in his career (last – Dec. 23, 2014-Jan. 5, 2015: 2-5—7).

* The Blues opened a 3-0 lead by the midway point of the game and survived a late Canucks rally to snap a six-game losing streak against the Canucks dating to Oct. 25, 2013.

* Jake Allen, who led rookie netminders with 22 wins last season, made 31 saves to pick up his first victory of the season (2 GP). Kyle Brodziak’s first goal with the Blues (5 GP) stood as his 13th career game-winning tally and first since Jan. 19, 2014 at PHX (w/ MIN).

The Maple Leafs (1-2-1), Kings (1-3-0) and Hurricanes (1-3-0) skated to their first victories of 2015-16.

* The Maple Leafs scored three times in each of the final two periods – powered by multi-point efforts from Daniel Winnik (0-3—3), Leo Komarov (2-0—2), Joffrey Lupul (1-1—2) and Morgan Rielly (0-2—2) – to earn their first road victory since March 3 at FLA, snapping a nine-game skid away from home. Winnik and Rielly both equaled career highs for assists and points in one game, while Komarov posted his second career multi-goal effort (Nov. 26, 2014: 2-0—2 at PIT).
