CANADIENS PUSH SENATORS TO BRINK IN OT
Trailing 1-0 in the third period, Dale Weise (2-0—2) notched the tying goal with 5:47 remaining in regulation and the overtime-winner at 8:47 of the extra frame to power the Canadiens to a 3-0 series lead over the Senators.

* Weise recorded his first career multi-goal playoff game and his second career overtime marker (also April 16, 2014 at TBL). Three of his five career playoff goals have stood as game-winners (25 GP).

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Weise is the third player in Canadiens postseason history to record a multi-goal game while scoring every goal for the team in an overtime win. The others to do so were Jacques Lemaire in a 2-1 win over Boston in Game 4 of the 1977 Stanley Cup Final and defenseman Eric Desjardins’ hat trick in a 3-2 victory over Los Angeles in Game 2 of the 1993 Stanley Cup Final.

* Torrey Mitchell (0-2—2) recorded his first career multi-assist playoff game and is tied for the team lead with 1-2—3 in three games this postseason.

* Carey Price made 33 saves to earn his third straight victory this postseason, improving to 3-0-0 with a 1.88 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage. Price also appeared in his 45th career playoff game with the Canadiens, tying Bill Durnan for fourth on the franchise’s all-time postseason games played list among goaltenders.

* The Canadiens also earned a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 2. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time Montreal won two consecutive games in overtime in the same series was when they won three straight games in overtime from June 3-7, 1993 vs. LAK in the 1993 Stanley Cup Final.

TAVARES STRIKES EARLY IN OT TO LIFT ISLANDERS OVER CAPITALS
With the Islanders leading 1-0 in the third period, Nicklas Backstrom tied the game for the Capitals with 6:06 remaining in the third period to force overtime and set the stage for John Tavares’ game-winner just 15 seconds into the extra frame.

* Tavares, who led all NHL players with four overtime goals during the regular-season and holds the Islanders franchise record for regular season overtime goals (8), scored the first postseason overtime goal of his NHL career.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Tavares’ goal 15 seconds into the extra frame was the sixth-fastest overtime goal in NHL playoff history behind Canadiens’ Brian Skrudland (0:09 in 1986), Islanders’ J.P. Parise (0:11 in 1975), Canucks’ Alex Burrows (0:11 in 2011), Blackhawks’ Pit Martin (0:12 in 1972) and Blackhawks’ Martin Havlat (0:12 in 2009).

* Tavares also extended his playoff point streak to three games (1-2—3), matching his career-high from May 3-7, 2013 vs. PIT (2-2—4). He has at least one point in nine consecutive games (regular season and playoffs combined dating to March 29 vs. DET), totaling 5-10—15 in that span.

* Kyle Okposo opened the scoring in the second period and extended his playoff point streak to three games (2-1—3) and Josh Bailey (0-1—1) has also recorded at least a point in all three postseason matchups this season (1-3—4).

* Jaroslav Halak stopped 24 of 25 shots to improve to 2-1 this postseason with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

* The Islanders improved to 30-13 in 43 all-time overtime playoff games, including a record of 15-6 on home ice.

* ICYMI: Okposo was mic’d up when he opened the scoring and on the bench when Tavares netted the overtime-winner.

BENNETT’S FIRST CAREER GOAL LEADS FLAMES TO VICTORY
Sam Bennett scored the eventual game-winning goal at 2:14 of the third period – which was the first goal of his NHL career – to propel the Flames to a 2-1 series lead over the Canucks.

* Bennett, who was drafted fourth overall by the Flames in 2014, played just one game for the Flames in the regular season. He also recorded 24 points (11-13—24) in 11 games for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, missing part of the 2014-15 season due to injury.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, at 18 years, 303 days, Bennett became the second-youngest player in franchise history to score a playoff goal (Jarome Iginla; 18 years, 297 days; April 23, 1996 vs. CHI).

* Bennett’s goal stood as the game-winner, making him the youngest player in franchise history to score a game-winning goal in the postseason. In fact, Elias says Bennett is the youngest player in NHL history to score a playoff game-winning goal in regulation. However, three other players in NHL history have scored postseason overtime-winners at an age younger than Bennett. They include Boston’s Don Gallinger on March 21, 1943 vs. MTL (17 years, 339 days), Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon on April 26, 2014 vs. MIN (18 years, 237 days) and Boston’s Patrice Bergeron on April 9, 2004 vs. MTL (18 years, 260 days).

* T.J. Brodie (1-1—2) recorded the first playoff points of his career. Brodie had a career high 41 points (11-30—41) in 81 games this season.

* Among other firsts for the Flames: Sean Monahan (1-0—1) scored his first career playoff goal, David Schlemko (0-1—1) his first playoff assist and Mikael Backlund (0-1—1) and Joe Colborne (0-1—1) registered the first playoff points of their careers.

* Jonas Hiller made 23 saves to improve to 2-1 in the series with a 2.07 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

* Kris Russell (0-1—1) has recorded a point in all three games of the series and leads the team with 2-1—3 this postseason.

DARLING, BLACKHAWKS TOP PREDATORS TO TAKE 2-1 SERIES LEAD
Scott Darling made 35 saves in his first career postseason start and the Blackhawks received multi-point efforts from Jonathan Toews (1-1—2) and Marian Hossa (0-2—2) to lead Chicago to a 2-1 series lead over the Predators.

* Darling earned his second career postseason win in as many appearances. He has stopped 77 of 79 shots combined this postseason (0.94 GAA, .975 SV%).

* Darling, who came on in relief in Game 1 and held the Predators scoreless for 67:44, began his playoff career with an 83:03 shutout streak before surrendering a goal to Nashville’s Mike Ribeiro at 15:19 of the first period. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Darling’s shutout streak is a Blackhawks franchise record to begin a playoff career.

* Jonathan Toews (1-1—2) scored his second goal of the postseason 36 seconds into the second period and added an assist to record his second multi-point game of the playoffs. According to Elias, Toews has recorded 23 multi-point games in his NHL playoff career. Since 2009, the year in which he made his postseason debut, the only NHL players with more multi-point games in the playoffs are Sidney Crosby (30), Evgeni Malkin (28) and teammate Patrick Kane (26).

* Marian Hossa (0-2—2) recorded his second multi-point game of the postseason. He has more career playoff points than any player participating in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs (45-86—131) and only Jaromir Jagr (78-121—199) has more among active players.

AFTER THREE GAMES
The Islanders, Blackhawks and Flames all took a 2-1 series lead while the Canadiens took a 3-0 lead in their series.

* When teams are tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series, Elias says that the winner of Game 3 holds an all-time series record of 189-92 (67.3%). Overall, teams that hold a 2-1 lead in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series hold an all-time series record of 307-136 (69.3%).

* Elias also says teams that go up 3-0 in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series hold an all-time series record of 175-4 (97.8%).

Washington forward Nicklas Backstrom (1-0—1) has posted 2-2—4 over the last two games. STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS RETURN TO WINNIPEG
The city of Winnipeg will host a Stanley Cup Playoffs game for the first time since 1996 when the Jets host the Ducks in Game 3 at the MTS Centre on Monday night. Fans of the original Jets franchise became famous for wearing white during the postseason, starting what became known as the ‘White Out’. That tradition is expected to continue tonight. Anaheim, who leads the series 2-0, is the first team in playoff history to have a 2-0 series lead when trailing at the start of the third period in each of the first two games.
