OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
A total of 74 goals were scored during Saturday’s 10 games (7.40 goals per game):

* Every game featured at least five goals.

* Seven contests saw five consecutive goals scored by one club (NSH, NJD, NYR, WPG, DAL, ARI, STL).

* The Predators and Kings combined for 13 goals, including four in each period of regulation.

* Thirteen players registered at least three points. There also were two hat tricks (byJaromir Jagr and T.J. Oshie) and four four-point performances (by Martin Hanzal, T.J. Oshie, Kevin Shattenkirk, Alexander Steen).

PREDATORS SURVIVE KINGS, MOVE INTO FIRST IN CENTRAL . . .
The Predators surrendered a three-goal lead in the final 2:01 of regulation, but Roman Josi scored 18 seconds into overtime to lift the club to its second consecutive win and fourth straight game with at least one point (3-0-1).

* With the victory, the Predators (25-9-3, 53 points) leapfrogged the idle Blackhawks (25-11-2, 52 points) for first place in the Central Division. They also moved within three points of the idle Ducks (25-9-6, 56 points) for the top spot in the NHL standings.

* Sixteen Predators players registered at least one point, a first in franchise history. That included multi-point performances by Ryan Ellis (1-1—2), Josi (1-1—2), Colin Wilson (1-1—2) and Mike Ribeiro (0-2—2).

* Josi notched his second career overtime goal (also Feb. 25, 2013 vs. DAL: 2-2—4) and extended his point streak to four contests (2-4—6).

* Filip Forsberg collected the primary assist on the overtime winner. He paces all rookies with 14-22—36 in 37 outings, one point shy of the franchise rookie record set byAlexander Radulov in 2006-07 (18-19—37 in 64 GP).

* Pekka Rinne made 24 saves to pick up his League-leading 25th win in his 33rd start of the season. Per Elias, Rinne is just the third goaltender in the past 25 seasons to register at least 25 victories in his first 33 starts, joining Chris Osgood (1995-96) and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (2006-07).

* The Predators earned their fourth straight win over the Kings dating to Nov. 2, 2013.

DID YOU KNOW?
Dwight King (17:59), Marian Gaborik (18:56) and Jeff Carter (19:26) scored in the final2:01 of regulation to help the Kings force overtime.

* Via Elias, the Kings are the first team to erase a three-goal deficit that late in the third period since Nov. 1, 1991, when the Jets rallied from a 6-3 hole against the Flames beginning at 18:06 of the final frame. The Jets ultimately lost that contest, though, whenRobert Reichel found the back of the net in overtime.

. . . OSHIE, BLUES KEEP PACE IN DIVISION . . .
Down 2-1 late in the first period, the Blues scored six unanswered goals – highlighted by four-point performances from T.J. Oshie (3-1—4), Kevin Shattenkirk (1-3—4) andAlexander Steen (1-3—4) – to snap a five-game road skid (0-4-1).

* With the win, the Blues (23-13-3, 49 points) remained within four points of the Predators (25-9-3, 53 points) for first place in the Central Division.

* Elias says three Blues players posted four or more points in the same game for the first time since Jan. 26, 1993, when Brendan Shanahan (1-4—5), Brett Hull (2-2—4) andCraig Janney (1-3—4) all did so in a 5-1 win vs. OTT.

* Oshie recorded his second career hat trick (also March 27, 2014 vs. MIN) and second career four-point performance (also Nov. 14, 2013 vs. COL: 0-4—4). He also eclipsed 100 NHL goals (101-174—275 in 402 GP) and stretched his point streak to five contests (5-3—8).

* Shattenkirk established a career high for points in one game and collected his third career three-assist performance. He leads all defensemen with 28 assists this season and is tied for first among blueliners with 35 points in 39 games.

* Steen registered his fourth career game of at least four points and first since Oct. 12, 2013 vs. NYR (1-3—4).

* The Blues improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games at SAP Center dating to Oct. 15, 2011.

. . . LITTLE HELPS JETS FOLLOW SUIT
Trailing 1-0 early in the middle frame, the Jets posted five unanswered goals – led by 1-2—3 from Bryan Little – to snap a two-game skid and keep pace in the crowded Central Division.

* Little recorded his third three-point game of the season and first since establishing a career high with 3-1—4 on Dec. 5 vs. COL. He also pushed his point streak to six contests (3-6—9).

* Dustin Byfuglien (1-1—2), Ben Chiarot (1-1—2) and Andrew Ladd (0-2—2) also collected multi-point games. Chiarot notched his first NHL goal (15 GP), while Ladd extended his team-leading point total (14-17—31 in 39 GP).

* Blake Wheeler registered one assist to stretch his point streak to five games (2-4—6).

* Michael Hutchinson made 20 saves to earn his 10th win of the season; he paces the NHL with a 1.81 goals-against average and .937 save percentage in 16 appearances.

* The Jets/Thrashers improved to 8-2-1 in their last 11 meetings with the Maple Leafs dating to Feb. 27, 2011, including five straight wins.

PRICE BACKSTOPS CANADIENS INTO TOP SPOT IN EAST
Carey Price made 30 saves, including 10 in each period, to backstop the Canadiens past the Penguins and into first place in the Eastern Conference.

* The Canadiens picked up their sixth consecutive victory, their second such winning streak of the season (also Nov. 5-16: 6-0-0). Via Elias, it marks the first time the team has posted multiple six-game winning streaks in one season since 1992-93.

* The Canadiens also improved to 9-1-0 in their last 10 outings, allowing two or fewer goals in each contest. Over the last 25 seasons, Elias says the club has had only one other streak in which it has allowed two or fewer goals in 10 straight games – an 11-game stretch from Nov. 10 – Dec. 2, 2013 (8-1-2).

* Price earned his 22nd win of the season, moving into sole possession of second place in the NHL. He has a 2.14 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and two shutouts in 32 appearances.

* Price also posted his fifth consecutive victory, his second such run of the season (also Oct. 16-28). He has a 1.20 goals-against average and .959 save percentage during the current stretch.

* Max Pacioretty (1-1—2) scored his team-leading 16th goal and 31st point of the season. Tom Gilbert (1-1—2) also collected multiple points, his first such performance since Jan. 26, 2014 at DET (0-2—2 w/ FLA).

* The Canadiens picked up their second straight win at CONSOL Energy Center after a 0-4-1 stretch in Pittsburgh dating to Oct. 20, 2011.

JAGR SETS (MORE) RECORDS IN DEVILS’ WIN
Jaromir Jagr registered his 15th career hat trick – and first since March 22, 2006 (also vs. PHI) – to help the Devils snap a two-game skid.

* At 42 years, 322 days, Elias says Jagr is the oldest player in NHL history to post a hat trick. Gordie Howe previously held the record, notching his final three-goal game at 41 years, 216 days on Nov. 2, 1969.

* Saturday’s performance came 23 years, 11 months and one day after Jagr’s first career hat trick – on Feb. 2, 1991. Elias says that shatters another NHL record (previously held by Howe) for the longest gap between a player’s first and final hat tricks. Howe’s last three-goal game came 19 years, 264 days after his first one (on Feb. 11, 1950).

* Jagr also tallied his 127th career game-winning goal, extending his NHL record.

* With 714 career goals, Jagr now is within three markers of tying Phil Esposito for fifth in NHL history.

* Scott Gomez posted 1-2—3 for his first three-point performance since March 9, 2010 vs. TBL (1-2—3 w/ MTL).

* Patrik Elias also found the back of the net; he is two goals shy of 400, one assist shy of 600 and three points shy of 1,000 in his career (398-599—997 in 1,186 GP).

RANGERS STAY HOT WITH VICTORY OVER SABRES
The Rangers scored four times in the first period – including a trio of power-play markers in a 2:32 span – to pick up their 10th win in their last 11 starts.

* With the victory, the Rangers (21-11-4, 46 points) leapfrogged the idle Capitals (19-11-7, 45 points) for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

* The Rangers have won 10 contests over an 11-game stretch for the first time since Dec. 17, 2011 – Jan. 10, 2012 (10-1-0).

* Per Elias, the last time the Rangers registered three power-play goals in 2:32 or less was on Nov. 21, 1995, when they did so in a 1:10 span vs. PIT. The last time the team notched three power-play goals in one period was on Feb. 4, 2010 vs. WSH.

* Thirteen Rangers players found the scoresheet, led by multi-point performances fromDerick Brassard (1-1—2), Rick Nash (1-1—2) and Martin St. Louis (0-2—2). Nash ranks second in the NHL with 24 goals in 36 outings, while his 38 points pace the team and share 11th in the League.

* Thirteen Stars players found the scoresheet, including multi-point performances byJamie Oleksiak (0-3—3), Vernon Fiddler (2-0—2), Erik Cole (1-1—2) and Brett Ritchie(1-1—2).

* Oleksiak notched his first career multi-point game, Fiddler posted his first multi-goal game since April 9, 2013 vs. LAK (2-1—3) and Ritchie became the first Stars player to score in each of his first two NHL games since Mike Modano in 1989-90.
