We have, however, probably reached the point at which if the Habs ever did make the momentous decision to deal their star goaltender, they would get limited returns. The contract, his performance and the injuries have changed everything.

Price may return to form, but he’s really now a substantial asset for Montreal only in terms of how he plays, not in terms of potential return on investment. If he doesn’t return and play superbly, he’s not an asset in any sense.
