Minnesota Wild Make Moves After Losing Jared Spurgeon To A Partial Tear Of His Hamstring

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Zack Mitchell and defenseman Ryan Murphy from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the team announced today that defenseman Jared Spurgeon is expected to miss a minimum of four weeks due to a partial tear of his right hamstring suffered in last night's game vs. Colorado.

Spurgeon, 28 (11/29/89), has collected 37 points (9-28=37) and eight PIM in 61 games this season for Minnesota. The 5-foot-9, 168-pound native of Edmonton, Alta., leads the team in blocked shots (127), ranks second in TOI/game at 24:32 (T-16th in the NHL) and T-4th in assists.
